The story has been solely running on agendas (the respective fandoms to be exact) for quite some time now. If it had to run on actual writing quality, it would've been in trouble ever since the timeskip.

Toei literally announced that they did this break in order to clear up pacing issues and improve animation/art quality.

I really don't know why Toei needed a half a year break. Literally nothing changed. Animation and pacing are literally the same as before. I would get it if they intended to go full season mode like any other modern anime, but the way they approached it just makes no sense.
