The most interesting thing about the flashback are the different ideals, motivations and moral greyzones of Garp, Rocks and Roger pirates. We have the celestial dragons portrayed as evil, and Kuma and other slaves as purely good. Everyone else is in-between.
Two things that came to my mind:
Shanks waited for Ex-Rocks pirates to be eliminated until he started to go after One Piece
Blackbeard wants to be king of the world, something Xebec tried to do. Shanks vs Blackbeard was heavily hinted at Marineford.
If Figarland were the enemies of Rocks, and...
Lucci wanted to capture Robin last arc but Oda fucked up Wano and left many things open. Now he is forced to be on Egghead because of Odas lack of writing skills. :josad:
Road Poneglyph
Wano history and Kurozumi clan
What Luffy and Roger said
Uranus reveal
CP0 and Robin captured
ZKK above flower capital
Dawn
This is all what's left until arc ends. :pepebusi:

Both are extremely powerful and something the main character seemingly cannot beat in a fair fight. But what makes Meruem far better than...
People who don't enjoy the fun and stupidity in this chapter will probably not enjoy the ending of One Piece overall.
Despite having its serious moments, One Piece is a laugh tale after all. :kayneshrug:

That is a legit opinion. Never saw it this way.
Before Wano, I watched HxH Chimera Ant Arc for the first time and I wanted Kaido to be like Meruem so bad. To first start as a brutal, strong creature with no personality and then developing his character to be more human.
Because the BM and Kaido alliance was supposed to be shocking, hence the revelation without further details how it happened.
As for Luffy and Capone, well Oda needed to show how the character dynamics are and what the original plan was, because obviously the plan would fail. It makes sense why...
