Incredible color spread. I've looked at it a lot ever since it came out.
Agreed that the 4 are great designs, but in this particular color spread my favorite is easily Luffy, leaving aside my gripes with the execution of the G5 reveal.
G5 looks great in Oda's painting style, and it's just a...
Holy shit I legit forgot Chopper was in the crew this chapter
:milaugh:
Love that Oda can't even spare a page to conclude this SMILE subplot that has been going on for a decade
For most of the fanbase, it's either them or the Blackbeard Pirates. I believe it'll be the WG since they've been bigger villains than the BB Pirates over the course of the entire series and in the context of the OP world. So yeah, I think there's a fair chance the Admirals will at the very...
This is hilarious, but Oda really needs to do a better job of setting up the Admirals as a feasible endgame threat. They've been taking Ls nonstop lately. Losing to the Revolutionaries and now this.

Loved the panel showing Greenbull regrowing from a sapling. Creative use of his powers.
Having said that, not a great showing from GB, and I say that as someone that has always bought into the Yonko = Admiral concept.
:josad:
The lore was pretty good though
And fuck you Oda Im not watching...
Oh its a whole thing. I'd argue it's been one of the most popular Vivi theories out there ever since we found out Kuma was likely to die. A lot of the proof has to do with "Goroawase" numbers, which are sometimes a big stretch, but it's frankly a theory I can totally get behind.
Seriously hate that this is very likely to happen now. I've always thought that Akainu vs. Luffy was a no brainer. There's no villain in the series that Luffy personally hates more than Akainu, and their confrontation was always set up to be the most emotional and personal in the series. And now...
I really hope Imu is more of the "mastermind" type of antagonist than a real fighter, mostly because I want Luffy's final battle to be against Akainu, who has had much better setup in the story and would easily be a more emotional and personal fight than Imu.
I'm just tired of this shonen trope...
I wouldn't say it's messed up, but it does make you think about their overall usefulness for the crew.
Character-wise, I prefer Zoro over Sanji, but if I were in the captain's position and had to pick only one between Zoro and Sanji to keep in the Strawhats, I'd probably pick Sanji because his...
I've seen people jokingly mention this, but if Buggy's Awakened DF were capable of splitting atoms, it would be the most powerful fruit in the series. Just able to create atomic explosions out of nowhere.
You didn't mention that in your original reply, but if you want to shift it to that, then sure, you're right I suppose. My point is that I've seen it too often from Oda to really be wowed by the design, especially when the other admirals have some of the most unique looks in the series.
Does he look badass with them? Sure, I agree. But saying that there's "barely any character with sunglasses" is demonstrably false. Here's a list (possibly incomplete):
- Smoker
- Vergo
- Bellamy
- Senor Pink
- Franky (not so much post timeskip)
- Z
- Ichiji
- Niji
- Inazuma
- Inuarashi
-...
I think it's a fine design. I'm not as hyped about it as I was about Fujitora's, though. A bit underwhelmed, honestly. Sucks because Oda had been knocking these designs out of the park lately.
EDIT: The actual introduction is great, though. I love how Oda made the plant ability look incredibly...
It is a bit odd, yeah. It'd have made more sense if they were referred to the position by other high-ranking marines, like we've seen happen in the past. Or at least show that they had some previous history with the company marines, and didn't immediately get hired as Admirals
It makes a lot of sense that that the editors would have a much bigger say and influence in the story when the series was still in its infancy since it wasn't a proven success yet. Oda had to listen to them or risk getting dropped.
But the way I understand it, Oda now has a much tighter grip on...
Both are also completely pointless in One Piece as Oda has shown he's not interested in either of them
:optimistic:
At least shipping can be fun. Have you seen Mihawk x Perona art? Cutest shit I've ever seen
