Zoro's swords wouldn't have broken against non-haki users. Zoro's haki was stronger (being ACoC) so it won out, just like any fights involving armament haki. King was weaker, that's not up for argument, but he definitely used haki, anyone saying otherwise is trolling, stupid, or both.
