This was a pretty good episode, and while it's great to get answers to things that aren't shown in the manga such as how Sanji escaped from X. Drake and went on to attempt to save Hiyori, it just feels a bit disappointing that Drake couldn't do a bit more to give more of a challenge when versus...
From the mangafreak translation, Luffy knows who Drake is and if the topic of Tama's village IS going to pop up, I don't believe that this is the best time for that. At this point, it just seems like people who are in it to beat Kaido like Yamato just get a pass to ALLY. I suppose Luffy's...
I enjoyed this episode, and honestly, its surprising to me to see Sanji Vs. Drake being extended along with Zoro Vs. Kyoshiro.
Kid actually being rather upset over what's happened to Killer was pretty well done in my opinion since it's very obvious that Kid is hurt that his friend is hurting...
I'll have to check that out, but it seems that Flying Slashes can only come from curved blades with cutting edges (which Rapiers are not curved blades) and Kaku's legs, apparently. The games aren't really canon though, arent they? But Drake uses flying slashes sounds very believable.
If Drake is SLASHING with that second weapon of his, it's got to be a saber and NOT a Rapier, right? It looked like a big saber in the anime during the destruction of Amigasa Village at least.
Looking back at Drake's small bit of backstory during Dressrosa, it still bothers me why that one crew member would ask him to try to "do something" the cage if he didn't have some sort of ability at that time. I hope we get confirmation on that this arc since Oda seemed excited to tell Drake's...
That's interesting, and now that I'm looking back at this post, I now remember that it's already confirmed that he has CoA due to the cover story with Caribou. Just need to see Observation and Awakening, hopefully.
If we don't see Drake having Conqueror's Haki (which I think is plausible), he should at least have the Armament and Observation and even Awakening shouldn't be too much of a stretch at this point.
The reason I bring up Drake's backstory is because I feel that there is more to tell since he had a small spotlight in what was Law's backstory overall. Maybe we'll get a few flashback chapters during this Arc since as it stands, we don't know much about Drake.
@Dettles Yeah, that's the general knowledge, but I hope that Oda really paints us a sad picture of Drake's backstory as all of the OP backstories are fairly sad. I just hope it includes some of his childhood, a broader Minion Island scene since he was mistreated badly, and his Marine life.
Now THAT, I would very easily settle for that because I'm super interested in that as well since we may see some familiars characters in the series that we didn't know were connected to Drake and Barrels.
I hope we will be revisiting Minion Island for a retelling of Drake's backstory from his point of view in addition to the origins of how he came to be in that situation in the first place.
I wonder how likely it is now for Drake to have gotten a bounty increase while deep under cover? I mean, it'll get wiped once he's back with the Marines again, but its still an interesting thought.
I really hope Oda shows near everything that Drake's (and Kid and Killer and Apoo and Hawnkins) got this arc as LZ+L are the only members of the WG so far that have a decent amount of named attacks so far.
