Law is a natural rival of Luffy since he's about control and Luffy is all about freedom. It just makes sense. But they also make a great odd couple and complement the other as allies and D.s. Kid is a natural rival, as well. Blackbeard is a good villain, I don't think of him as a rival really...

It's going to be really interesting to see if any of the lore actually holds up once it is revealed. Because Oda has been banking on mystery and top fighter legends to keep the story interesting, and I want to see how it is when we're in the Endgame and he's got to deliver on all the promises...
