I think it's hilarious how the children are forced to eat Oden, just like how we were subjected to love Oden in the story. :milaugh:
Also, this chapter is all right.
Good stuff. Great chapter.
If this chapter concluded the Egghead, it'll be the sixth longest arc in One Piece.
Wano (149 chapters)
Water 7 / Enies Lobby (119 chapters)
Dressrosa (102 chapters)
Whole Cake Island (78 chapters)
Skypiea (66 chapters)
Egghead (64 chapters)
Alabasta (63 chapters)...
I can see people getting sick of the Nika stuff surrounding Bonney. Like I mentioned last week, the only reason I dislike it is because it's completely pointless and feels like something Oda came up with on the fly - an idea he wanted to include in the story. You could remove last week's chapter...
While I definitely agree that physical is the preferred way to read this series, I think it's important to stress that not even Oda takes into consideration volume releases sometimes. Take this page for example. Kaido stands smack dab in the middle of the page, where the spine of the volume...
It's always funny to me how people unfamiliar with One Piece are often put off by the "goofy" art style. I personally think old One Piece art is incredibly appealing, whereas current One Piece looks downright ugly in some places.
This is not even a pre-timeskip, post-timeskip debate. Fishman Island and Punk Hazard, despite being controversial arcs, have some of the best art in the whole series. Just compare the first three chapters of Wano to the last three chapters of Wano and you'll notice how bad it's become.
The current art feels like it could be from a completely different manga. The art has been at its absolute lowest ever since the latter half of the Wano arc. The linework is awful, it's hard to make out characters and their actions. The lightning-fast pacing of the current manga made full-double...
This is literally Nothing Happens - the chapter. If it wasn't for this chapter, we could have already set sail from the island. What even is the point of a Nika-like transformation for Bonney, it genuinely feels like an idea Oda came up with on the spot that he wanted to include in the manga...
Good chapter. It's cool to see the Krieg Pirates again, even if they're tucked away in a small panel. It's honestly surprising that they made it to the New World to begin with, although befittingly under the umbrella of the Blackbeard Pirates. Interestingly Gin seems to be using a sword now...
I had always believed it would end in 2027, on the 30th year anniversary of the manga, but at this point, it's hard to say given the amount of breaks Oda's been taking in recent months.
I know people throw around the term "Reaction Piece" a lot, and even though I'm not a fan of reaction shots either and thought they were at their worst during Wano, I think it actually works in this case. These are earth-shattering news, and getting to see every character again from throughout...
I fucking love when Oda does underwater panels like this one. The different kinds of fish, the subdued lighting, the sunrays from above - all of it looks so fantastical. The Fishman Island arc has a lot of those.
The Mihawk vs. Shanks debate is endlessly funny to me. Luffy is the protagonist of the story and will always be the strongest character among the crew. Zoro's goal is to surpass Mihawk. Oda will never make it so the second-in-command is stronger than Luffy, the captain. Therefore, if only for...
Oda is much better at improvisation than foreshadowing to begin with. The fact that he manages to include concepts like the Shichibukai or the Supernova into the story and make them work is nothing short of amazing, especially for a long-running series like One Piece. A lot of One Piece's best...
I mean, yeah. She is Kaido's daughter. My personal headcanon for why Kaido refers to Yamato as his son is because I think he always wanted to have a son who obeys him and would ultimately rule over Wano alongside with him.
The image quality of the fan translation is so bad. This is why I only look at the raws when they come out and wait until Sunday for the official translation. But of course, people will always refer back to these pages when Oda's art is brought up in discussion.
Anyway, great chapter overall...
