What we can say for sure is that the Kizaru -> Akainu -> Blackbeard -> Imu path looks pretty likely from here on. Only way for BB to become the FV is to destroy the WG and kill Imu and replace him as the King of the World, achieving what Xebec failed to do.

Chapter 1090 was named after Kizaru and in this chapter we had a little flashback with him and Sentomaru. We get to know Kizaru a little bit better now so its almost guaranteed that Luffy defeats him here and now.

You can't compare Shanks to little Koby. Shanks is still pretty mysterious because we still don't know his real agenda and what he wants. Oda can come up with anything here. Kobys whole role is that he will become the new Garp and have a friendly rivalry with Luffy.

You certainly can't rule it out. Oda likes to lead his readers astray. Everyone expects Imu or BB to be the final villain so Shanks as FV is something he could come up with.

You always need hyperbole to start a thread. No one can predict what Oda will be doing. I think there is a good chance Akainu dies though.
