Plus it’s impossible to make Luffy vs Shanks and Usopp vs Yassop happen in a dramatic manner due to their relationships so integrating the fight into a game like battle royal is the most logical yet fun Oda way to do it.

Oda should have made the SWORD group consist of the most powerful Vice admirals rather than a bunch of amateur lead by undercover rear admiral.

The plot going forward doesn’t equal always fights to the death. No matter the difficulty if the SHs destroyed most of the navy fleets it still be considered a win as the navy would have received heavy blow damaging their reputation worldwide. Kinda similar to the WCI to some extent.

If Brook, Chopper and Usopp don’t get serious fights at this point I’m losing hope for them and their match up against the BBP captains would be nothing more than mid tiers going at each other. Which is disappointing considering both crews are emperors fighting for the throne of PK.

I would love for the VAs to give a good fight to Zoro and Sanji and not be total pushovers. As they are mostly featless Oda could make them as strong as he sees fit depending on the match up.
