It's unfortunate how it was resolved, I agree. Wano is a disappointment for me, too. Though there are storylines I am still invested in, such as Blackbeard, the Marines, etc, my expectations of how those things will be handled have lowered.

I'll wait and see how the flashback is framed in the raws, but I'm not optimistic we'll see much of that development, if it happens at all. Though you never know.

I once interpreted Yamato's obsession with Oden as associating him with freedom, the one they never had under Kaido. To learn it's Oda taking the role play literally is pretty disappointing.

It also goes against Momo's desire for Wano to stand on its own, which was the exact reason he wished to face Aramaki in place of Yamato.

I'm talking about Yamato's reason back in 1057, which was to emulate Oden by exploring Wano first.

The Wano flashback feels like an attempt to repair Yamato's bizarre last minute decision of not joining the crew. Possibly something that was supposed to be there in the arc itself until Film Red sort of stifled Wano's conclusion.

There'd be no reason for them to resemble child Warlords if they did not. And even if Issho wasn't around for the experiments, he still supports it.

They wouldn't have Lunarian DNA without torturing King for it. Plus obtaining DNA from the Warlords without seemingly their consent doesn't sit well with me.

The Seraphim are probably the most morbid thing One Piece has done, save the kidnapping and experimentation of children at Punk Hazard. The fact Issho was against the Warlord system yet supported this has me re-evaluating his morality.

I think it's more like Coby did his job for him. One thing about Blackbeard is that characters tend to help him along the way without them realizing it. Take for example Luffy, he cleared Impel Down's security for Teach and that allowed the latter to swoop into level 6 and gather his new crew...

It's also possible Coby defeated Wang Zhi for Blackbeard without realizing he helped Blackbeard in the process.

Sasuke's Retrieval Arc was tighter. It focused on the fights against the Sound Ninjas in order to retrieve Sasuke, and so had a consistent flow where big moments and revelations kept happening, unlike Enies Lobby where there was still a ton of build up in between one setpiece and the other. But...
