I agree that the fight (and the arc) should have ended a while ago. At least the end is in sight, but I have been wrong about that before. Is it Gear 5th for the fifth fight between Luffy and Kaido? (It is the fifth one, right?)
The Kurozumi clan unintentionally destroying itself is also good, though it's too bad Hiyori/Momo/the Scabbards/the people of Wano won't land the final strike.
I actually like the cartoonish style of Gear 5--it takes me back to the beginning of the series. Ridiculous works, and is effective because of how unexpected it is. Didn't an editor say that the end of Wano was surprising? I wonder if this is what was meant.
I feel like the unexpected nature of this situation is really giving a good exhibition of various characters' true personalities, including Kaido. His frustration finds an outlet in destruction. Interestingly, he hasn't given out his victory roar, maybe because he considers it an imperfect...

Any emotional impact that could have come with Drake's attack and declaration that he was following his justice was drained away by how little an effect any of it had. He was pretty much just tossed aside. I wonder what's next for him in the story.
