Bro, Mihawk's ambition isn't higher than Shanks. Shanks is going for the One Piece. Mihawk himself admitted that becoming Pirate King (finding One Piece) is harder than surpassing himself. Shanks wasn't injured by Kizaru, he was injured because he let the civilizians beat him up.
