Choreography wise Kishimoto did a great job, just look at fights like Sasuke vs Deidara or Shikamaru vs Hidan. The anime just expanded upon these things but Kishimoto laid the foundation. You're also overlooking that tension and emotion are important elements in fight choreography.

Strongly disagree, I'd say the Naruto manga is far greater than it's anime counterpart, there are definitely instances where the anime exceeds it like when Madara fought against the Shinobi alliance but overall Kishimoto was able to convey so much weight and tension into his artstyle.
