Kaido barely had any actual character focus or even a important role during the flashback with the Rocks Pirates.

In fact, Wang Zhi has played a bit more of an important role than even Kaido.

Wang Zhi during the flashback with the Rocks Pirates:
*Is revealed to be a traitor
*Killed Don Marlon and his subordinates
*Kidnaped Shakky and sold her to the government

Meanwhile Kaido:
*Gets kicked in the face by Rocks
*"I wish I had a devil fruit."
*"What powers are they?"

It never made sense to me that Kaido would get major focus in the Rocks flashback, the Rocks flashback was always going to have Rocks himself get the most major focus not Kaido.

But for some reason some OP fans really thought that Kaido was going to be just as important as Rocks during this Elbaf flashback with the Rocks Pirates.

thanks to oda lazy/shitty writing, kaido has been trashed. the character is bland and make no sense.

For a long time, many movie antagonists were clearly inspired by some of the manga villains (e.g.: Gasparde - Crocodile, Tesoro - DoFlamingo, etc.), but they at least had different backgrounds, they looked unique. Kaido is just Douglas Bullet with distinct looks and abilities (even Douglas Bullet's backstory with the Roger Pirates is virtually identical to Kaido's backstory with the Rocks Pirates... I'd bet that Bullet would be Rocks' crewmate instead of a Roger's crewmate if he was older).

indeed. One of the biggest issues for Kaido's flashback being too short, it was because most of his stuff was releated with God Valley.
