Why King is an inferior version of Vergo

If you look at King, in many ways he is just a failed Vergo. King tries to be a guy that is a pro at many different fighting styles, like Vergo, but King lacks skill to be as good as Vergo. King also fails to make a scary impression like Vergo. We should start counting the ways King is simply an inferior version of Vergo

1. King’s character design is ripped-off Katakuri

Why does King wear the same punk and gothic biker pants and spikes like Katakuri? Why do King hide his face like Katakuri? Why is King just a Katakuri copy?

King and Katakuri even says the same line:feelsokeman:https://m.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=4&v=5jo8qHDJL_A&embeds_referring_euri=https://worstgen.alwaysdata.net/&source_ve_path=MjM4NTE&feature=emb_title

Same design and lines like Katakuri catded

It is like Oda didn’t care and just went with something he knows already works.

2. King can’t get Sanji’s attention

King from the start takes Sanji seriously. King is always in flame mode, but Sanji’s strength forces King to remove flame mode, because he needs the extra strength it gives

King removes flame mode to meet Sanji’s power, but King can’t overwhelm Sanji’s power even a little. All King must do is a quick attack on Momo and that’s it.

King has one task and that’s to kill a kid. There is one meter distance separating King and Momo.

It is like Sanji has the strength of an adult to a kid. The adult is holding a candy bar in one hand and the kid tries to take it, but the adult holds him back with the other arm. The kid can’t take the candy bar because he is struggling to overcome the force of one arm of the adult. This is what is happening between King and Sanji

This is the first impression of King who fails his task, he gets the weak treatment from Sanji who looks away to make small-talk with Momo. King can’t earn Sanji’s attention.

There is no scary vibe from King. His strength doesn’t make an impression on Sanji. Sanji only got tagged by King’s beak because he got lost in small talk with Momo.

Sanji only lost to King because King was so weak Sanji could afford to completely ignore him, so he missed what he did as a zoan.

Sanji lost touch with reality fighting Vergo

Against Vergo Sanji was saved by the bell. An emergency bell

After Sanji’s leg break, one loud message on loudspeaker is heard by everyone in Punk Hazard

Vergo not only heard the message, he was thinking to himself too like he usually do, he kept only like 5% of his attention to Sanji tbh
He was spaced out by the fact that he fought Sanji in sanjis style and not in his own. He simply didint think how to fight him, that’s how much of his attention he gave sanji

Sanji doesn’t even know why Vergo left. Sanj didn’t hear the message

Sanji is fixated only on Vergo , like his brain is focused on survival and nothing else. Everything else is blacked out from his mind

For Vergo, Sanji was like background noise

For Sanji, Vergo was living 100% rent free in his head. Vergo was setting up camp in Sanji’s head and building skyscrapers. Sanji didn’t hear the message everyone else heard :risitameh:

It’s a difference when someone is just background noise to you, compared to someone owning 100% of your brain :kappa:

King and Vergo are two separate calibres

King was just background noise to Sanji

Sanji was just background noise to Vergo

:doffytroll: (Doffy is rolling of floor laughing)

3. Temperadon is a useless attack

I keep hearing “Temperadon” but this attack is so slow it’s like watching grass grow. Not only is this attack goofy looking but pulling back his head back leaves many seconds where he is open for any attack or where an opponent can predict his direction to dodge it. If Zoro can dodge this attack , how is it going to hit someone like Katakuri ? :shame:

If this attack even had the power like people say Zoro would be swimming in rubble, so everything about this attack is fake hype

Vergo blitzes and doesn’t take forever to charge an attack

Vergo is making conversation and still able to blitz Smoker and launch a breath attack so fast Smoker only dodges because he has a logia body.

This attack has blitzing speed, it is effectice, it is everything Tempuradon isn’t.

4. Oda gave Vergo style while King just lacks style

I can’t think of a single moment where King did anything that looks cool in terms of fighting choreography. Zoro even dodged King’s kicks so it makes him look even worse

Vergo’s choreography was artistic and badass. He had great moments where he flexed around like a pro

Oda put zero effort into King’s fighting choreography

5 King gets scared easily; Vergo scares other people

King is easily startled in battle. Maybe King has low pain threshold like Cracker and just gets emotional breakdown when he fears strong attacks? We don’t know why he is such a pussy

First time King shows scared face

Second time King gets scared face again
King is startled too easily. He should try to keep his cool like Vergo

Vergo put the scare in other people and not on himself

6. Vergo is the Nika df in terms of fighting

this panel is clear showcase that Vergo could be anything he thinks of being in the moment

He was told he isnt a swordsman and instantly become better kicker than sanji and fighter than smoker and law

He didint use arms when he fought sanji because he saw himself as kicker.

When smoker and law used a weapon, Vergo used bamboo

Vergo really is anything he thinks of at the moment. A real fighting genius.

In terms of personality, Vergo is the Nika of fighting, and adapts to make his fighting similar to his opponent like it is a sport. No other character approaches fighting like it is a sport.

Maybe Vergo ate the Nika Nika fruit model: versatile combat :myman:

7. People respect Vergo a lot more than King

Vergo earns respect on a deeper level

His own men worship Vergo like a father figure

Sengoku’s instincts tells him there’s something different about Vergo the second he walks in

Vergo is a partner of Doflamingo, not under him

King has been with Kaido for 30 years or more, more or less same time as Vergo has been with Doffy. Over this time Vergo became an equal to Doffy. King on other hand has not earned any special rank or position, not even different from Queen. King and Kaido even share a similar background but still King didn’t earn even a special position in the crew

King from the flashback just shows he is a worshipper of Kaido.

Vergo started also from a worshipping positioning, same as King, worshipping Doffy
You see the difference when Vergo starts from a kneeling position but climbs in rank and respect to become an equal in Doflamingo’s eyes.

King’s status is not special in any way. Flying six can challenge his position anytime. His status is not sacred. King has not show he even earn respect among his foot soldiers like Vergo did, calling him father.

30 years with Kaido and King, same background as Kaido and still equal to Queen.
:josad:

8. King has no special character quirk

You will see that Oda gives characters he likes funny traits. Brook asks women for their panties or Zoro gets lost all the time, these are quirks.

It’s a good sign that Oda enjoys working with a character if that character has a hang-up that brings humour into a situation.

King is such a character that didn’t have a quirk. He was just a serious guy and that was it.

Vergo had always a much more intimidating presence than King, but Oda can balance out the serious intensity with two funny quirks: food on his cheek and false memory.

Vergo always have different food stuck to him and he gets lost in false imaginings, that makes him more human otherwise he’s pure monster.

King wasn’t much of a monster to begin with, Oda didn’t even care to give him a quirk. The fact that Vergo has two quirks is rare and promising for his character.

Summary

On so many levels Vergo is better written and portrayed than King. He is not a copy of another character. He is a unique material with unique epic scenes and moments we remember. He has a cool style which King does not. King barely has any character, 0 character quirk or fighting personality. Vergo has a fighting personality where fighting is seen as sport, he has a serious intensity but also given 2 quirky traits bc Oda likes Vergo he gave him two. Vergo has earned enormous respect from both Doffy and marines, while King is still equal to an outsider like Queen after 30 years with Kaido.

There is not so much to be fascinated about King. He is a lunarian. Cool. Now every seraphim has lunarian fire so what’s else?

We still don’t even know where Vergo comes from, his true backstory is not revealed in Databooks. Guess we’ll have to find out later in story

Oda needed to use something to hype Laws awakening , so he use Vergo

Oda didn’t know what to do with King he made up a bs ability on last minute , no one likes the lunarian gimmick

Last SBS explained I was right about Law's awakening. His awakening is just creating remote rooms.

So, sorry to tell you, but Law used no awakening, and no awakening was even hinted, in Punk Hazard.

Vergo was a hypetool for both Law and Doflamingo, by being Doflamingo's henchman, while Doflamingo served the same purpose for Kaido.

Law didn’t create a room before his attack on Vergo this you know lol

Everytime before he attack someone he makes a sphere around his hand say Room, but he didn’t make a room before he attack Vergo .

If it was room Oda would just show Laws room against Vergo he never showed the room

look what Law did against BM he activated his df without room

you are not right about anything, just go cry
