It's only because the gorilla is stronger and smarter than most other animals. The problem is people are forgetting that humans are by far the smartest animals on average, and even though gorillas (and dolphins/whales, among other things) come sort of close to our levels of intelligence, we're still more intelligent on average.
That gap in intelligence along with the fact that we can typically think more rationally and cordially than a wild bloodlusted animal would definitely land us a win.

After a couple of minutes the Gorilla gets tired and there will still be another 80 humans to go through
Someone will poke his eyes out at some point, someone will knee him in the balls so hard they would explode and we could gang up and strain him from there. Whether it's with jumping knee first on his skull or choking him to death.
