Kaidou was defeated 7 times, and oden is the only one to injure kaidou. but this was also 20 years ago when kaidou was not WSC yet. But kaidou still won i nthe end maybe because of his calamities and orochi.

He can hype him otherwise , maybe through WB.Dehyping the main villain of the whole saga by showing him lose a 1 v 1 is a bad thing to do.

Why not, this Oden can give problems to WB who for sure is stronger, probably way stronger, than Kaido, and Kaido is also pretty young at the moment.

Plus his biggest visible scar is from Oden, Kaido tried (and accomplished) to invade Wano which is one of the worst things you can do to Oden so why not.

No but it could have been a high diff fight. Oden was in his prime back then and kaido wasn't as strong as today.
So the guy who is going to defeat that thing will achieve something very impressive and is going to be the attraction of the new world.

It’s plausible Orochi played a trick for Oden to be beaten, but I don’t think that’s how he betrayed him.

For starters, it would undermine the effort the Strawhats and allies go through trying to beat Kaido and the lead up to him if Oden could just 1v1 him. And I take a lot of Oden’s current hype to just build up to how monstrous Kaido is.

Secondly, I think what Orochi did to Oden was more personal. Betraying Oden to help Kaido betrays him and Wano, but the way Kin’emon recounted the events, and how everyone reacted, it seemed more of a betrayal directed at Oden specifically.
