I think the problem is a lot of people use poor translations.

I asked someone who can read the raws and he said that Mihawk called Shanks a one-armed bastard, not a has-been. He also said a final decision won't be reached. He is saying that because Shanks has one arm, they won't be able to get a final decision on who is the better swordsman, because two arms seems to be a requisite for swordsmanship.
Mihawk is waiting for a swordsman stronger than Shanks:

databook just said he ain't lose power, and you just told me databooks are revised by Oda, now you make up headcannon to say what he lost? :nicagesmile:
No you probably don't get it. Mihawk himself implicated that Shanks' lost arm was a nerf.

One piece doesn’t equal real life logic
Not necessarily. It depends on what's the matter in a case by case analysis.

So a nerfed shanks is yonko level
Then 2 hands shanks gotta be roger and primebeard level
Which means mihawk is also roger and primebeard level
So when the grandmaster zoro-sama one shot mihawk at the end that means he would officially transcends into literally GOD

I got you finalbeta πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘Œ

Your point? He can be equal to Shanks but still wait for someone who is stronger than him. We know he is waiting for Zoro to surpass him. Shanks and Mihawk never fought since he lost his arm. Now we know the databook says Shanks didn't lose his strength and Mihawk himself said they didn't reach a final decision.

Depends how much you value the WSS title.

In my opinion Mihawk's portrayal is paradoxically greater than Kaido's for a few reasons;

- IS his title, rather than being SAID to be.
- it features in the databooks which is decidedly a plus
- Zoro displayed to be most likely capable to give Kaido a run for his money if healthy, and that's thanks to his defensive and offensive outputs and yet he should logically most likely still stand rather below, possibly quite below, Mihawk. Kaido might be stronger than what he displayed so far, but if he truly has got to be defeated this arc, and it seems extremely likely, he might have gone all out / almost.
