General & Others 6 Years Later… How do you feel about Luffy Vs Katakuri?

Has the fight aged well?

I think overall people don't understand how powerful Katakuri is.. Luffy getting injured and then Katakuri stabbing himself worked immensely in Luffy's favor.. Katakuri's best fighting style is using Power Mochi along with his Awakening which is very stamina demanding and he couldn't use that in the final round of the fight.. Luffy's power boost isn't strictly reliant on his stamina, while he's banking all the Haki he has in store, he blows air into his muscles and pump his blood moderately which has no energy consumption..

You can say whatever you want about the fight, but you can’t deny that it was the one that Oda devoted the most to in terms of choreography!

I’m a sucker for “antagonist has similar power to the MC but better” fights, so I enjoyed that aspect of it.

It has its issues like Flampe and such, but still great for pure enjoyment.

We need this style of fast paced, close quarter combats like this matchup or the Luffy vs Lucci (pre TS) in the upcoming Luffy vs Kizaru fight, but only if Kizaru can force Luffy out of his G5 form :josad:

A crock of utter horseshit. Honestly the only saving grace is some of the choreography, but that doesn’t even come close to saving it from the numerous amounts of problems this fight contains. Fuck this shitty scrapheap, and fuck WCI as a whole.

Pretty badass. Definitely one of my favorite fights, totally blows Lano out of the water, but I have been recently thinking it's a bit overrated. Also after seeing the kinda shit King pulled off, I'm kinda underwhelmed by Kata comparatively.

Also Future Sight is kinda dumb, idk how or what Oda's going to do to incorporate that into the story in any meaningful way from here on. I don't remember it being too much of a factor in Roof Piece, at least not compared to Luffy's newer Haki toys.

In retrospect, the conclusion does seem a little forced and silly. Kinda gives off the feeling Oda couldn't really figure out a way to have Luffy justifiably win with the power gap AND Katakuri's precog, but I still like it and I'm a sucker for the whole honorable warrior schtick.

Snakeman fuckin rules though. Easily my second favorite form. Wish it got more breathing room before... THAT. So it kinda feels pointless but hey what're ya gonna do.
