Character Discussion A Brave Warrior of The Sea

Definition of brave
1: having or showing mental or moral strength to face danger, fear, or difficulty
Usopp does not have to stop being afraid in order to accomplish his Goal in fact his goal has a lot to do with him being afraid and overcoming his fear. Him losing his fear would be character development the same way zoro gaining a sense of direction would

By far, Usopp is the reason all hax abilitiy of enemies rendered useless. Which without him around, Straw Hat Pirates generally is doomed. Defeating Perona, Sugar is a huge credit to him. In fact, Usopp action during Enies Lobby Arc is magnificent. Burned down WG flag, marksmanship and even arousing depleted stamina of Luffy into fighting spirit. He certainly a Warrior of the Sea and a BRAVE one.

So, as I said in the other post, at first, I agree with Usopp's theme of "being brave by overcoming fear". Very "green lantern" of him.
What bothers me about Usopp, and others characters in general, is the sense of lack in progression.
Usopp has being doing it since the beginning. It never change. He is often a coward, but when time comes, he shows how courageous he can be.
But think like this.
Alabasta, Miss Merry Christmas is mocking Luffy's dream about becoming PK, then Usopp makes that speech about not letting anyone laughing at your friend's dreams. Then....more than a decade later, you have the Usopp/Nami confrontation against Ulti/Page1, and while Ulti is telling Nami that Luffy's declaration about becoming PK is a joke, and demanding Nami to agree with it, instead of Usopp showing the same resolve he showed years ago, he starts to think "oh nami, its ok to lie in this situation, even though that's not what I did/do".
It was a huge kick in the nuts for me, ngl. Another moment that I found very bad taste was Zou, when the Minks said Raizo was safe. Usopp was like "bu-but you were all gonna die!". It feels like it's ok for usopp being "brave", but he doesn't think anybody can be too.
He doesn't want to be THE brave warrior of the sea. He wants to be A brave warrior of the sea. He KNOWS there are many brave people out there, and he wants to be like them, but he acts like brave people are somewhat rare.
Again, the "theme" for Usopp I believe its perfect for him, but what I dont like are the contradictions and lack of progression of the character.

Are you fucking kidding me if Nami wasnt saved by plot armor she would be dead now.
I dont think anyone doubts WB was a brave warrior of the sea yet he was not to get his nakama involved in a pointless idealist revenge war

Usopp has developed his bravery in many ways. He needs to put on mask to be brave in EL and TB

To destroying those alter egos

I feel like anything else would have been more out of character, that scene isn't about Usopp disregarding Nami's resolve or belittling her courage, it's about Usopp being helpless to physically help her and trying his best to save her the only way he can which in his case is trickery, there's plenty of characters that don't let others follow what they do but it's rarely proof of a contradiction to their nature but rather to show their primary goal regardless of their dream is to protect them. As for the Zou situation I can see where you're coming from but even then the things Usopp points out are more than fair, there's being brave and then there's being impressed at an entire fucking species willing to go extinct for an outsider.
