Its not that hard to get actually, people who use their swords and combine them with their df/Technics are still a swordsman like fuji or law, but if shanks or roger use another thing other then their sword to fight they are not classified as swordsman, even if its their fist or leg or maybe they have a df.

So it’s not really a surprise to anybody outside of sword swallowers, but King just proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Oda does not view the term “swordsman” as being as simplistic as “anybody who uses a Sword in combat:
I suppose the beautiful irony in this is that King actually didn’t say anything about not being a Swordsman, Zoro himself did as Zoro clearly states that wielding a sword does not make one a swordsman.

Even if King is not considered a swordsman as I said this has nothing to do with Shanks who likely is instead. Imagine if Oda portrayed such portrayal between Mihawk and Shanks and Shanks proved no swordsman and also his vivre card is so telling my friend. Not to mention how far he is from facing Zoro.
