Current Events A Decade of Zoro Propaganda Down the Toilet-How Zoro Himself Destroyed the Swordsmen Narrative

So it’s not really a surprise to anybody outside of sword swallowers, but King just proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Oda does not view the term “swordsman” as being as simplistic as “anybody who uses a Sword in combat:

I suppose the beautiful irony in this is that King actually didn’t say anything about not being a Swordsman, Zoro himself did as Zoro clearly states that wielding a sword does not make one a swordsman.

All these years of “Fujitora is a Swordsman because he carried a sword”…debunked by Zoro himself.

All these years of “Whitebeard himself is beneath Mihawk because Oda considers his Bisento a Sword”…debunked by Zoro himself.

All these years of “Ryuma over Roger because Roger has a Sword”…debunked by Zoro himself.

You see, even Zoro fans themselves knew that Oda never viewed a Swordsman as just any person to carry a Sword, but for years they have tried to argue that there is no canonical basis for characters who wield swords not being Swordsman. No longer, as Zoro acknowledges that King himself is not a Swordsman despite wielding a sword as his primary weapon lol.

You can wield a sword and not be a swordsman. You can wield a sword and still be stronger than Mihawk. You can wield a Sword and that doesn’t mean you’ll be weaker than EOS Zoro.

Mihawk’s Title of “World’s Strongest Swordsman”, LITERALLY means that he has the strongest Swordsmanship in the world, not that he is stronger than every character who carries a Sword.

We have all known this for years, Zoro fans themselves have known this for years, but now they no longer have any canonical basis for the spreading of their propaganda.

The war is over. But Mihawk is still stronger than Shanks.

This is the start of another saga in Admiral Lee Hung's journey. He will gain the reliable partners to restore the glory of Admirals once again!

Shanks is someone who dabbled in swordsmanship and did formal duels with Mihawk, but being a swordsman was never the core of his character. You know, like when Usain Bolt decided to play football for a while.
How you know

Zoro doesn't consider King a Swordsman. It has nothing to do with whether or not King uses a sword either, and stems from the fact that King disregards skill and technique when it comes to wielding his sword.

Does Cabaji and Kaku disregard skill and technique within their Swordsmanship? Not that we are aware of.

King doesn't take pride in skill and technique when it comes to him using a Sword. As far as we know, Cabaji and Kaku do. That's what it boils down to. Ones sense of pride in their skill when wielding a Sword. If a person using a Sword doesn't care about how good they are with it, or they don't care about perfecting using a Sword, then they aren't a Swordsman. King uses his Sword to compliment his fighting style. He doesn't use it as his primary focus of fighting.
Where does King say he disregards skill and technique? He said he doesn't why people will stick to those traditional form or techniques. He does what he wants in the battle and without skill he wouldn't know how to fight so your making no sense.

Where are you getting that he disregards skill from. Your making no sense. He still needs skill with the sword to compliment his fighting style which is why he attacking abd blocking with his sword which take skill.

World's Strongest Swordsman
Why would Mihawk teach Zoro "The way of the Sword" when that's just a formula that actual Swordsman follow, and Zoro has been doing that his whole life? :choppawhat:

you want me to teach you the WAY OF THE SWORD so that you can one day take my head

then he agrees to train him

and his lessons for the way of the sword were

to coat sword in haki

this without even going in to wano teachings of using ryou with swords concepts koshiro was teaching a kid zoro on lessons on how to be a swordsman

so anyone who coats their sword in haki follows the way of the sword

So, the only thing Mihawk taught Zoro for two whole years is how to coat his Sword with Haki?

he sure didnt teach him any sword skills
santoryu is unique to zoro mihawk cannot teach him that
hes not using any new techniques
hes using the same ones that are either more powerful cause hes physically stronger or they are haki clad

I stick by the stance that anyone that is proficient and skilled with a sword is considered a swordsman. Some people want to pigeon hole fighters who has a variety of ways of fighting who also have swords can't be called swordsman.

Ok can someone that’s not a zoro fan tag me and explain how this proves shanks over mihawk like if zoro is willing to say screw the swordsmanship I’ll bite ur neck off what’s stopping mihawk from having that same energy and even if mihawk is like straight swordsmanship right zoro has separated himself from that this man is willing to do anything to see his captain become the pirate king maybe this in itself will seperate him from mihawk time will tell i guess

Zolo is a swordsman. But he willingly would hurt his pride as a swordsman (cheating by biting for instance) if by doing so could grant him a victory in a death match against a non Swordsman.

But if Zolo sees his main opponent as a Swordsman, I believe he won't drop his swordsmanship pride and would not "cheat", and would rather die than "cheating", like he did to protect his pride by not letting Mihawk to scar his back but his front body side instead.

Warlord isn't a level.

Being in leagues with the Yonkou and Admiral doesn't make you a Yonkou or Admiral. You need a powerful crew and territory in the New World to be a Yonkou. You need to be a Marine to be an Admiral. Mihawk lacking either is irrelevant to his power level.

It's not foolish or wishful thinking if I'm going by what the manga is telling me.
Yea yea, deny one tag, and accept the other, because it suits your agenda.

Not hating though, but this is what I think.
Mihawk is an unemployed well educated man 😂
Means he cant be a Yonko or Admiral, yet he has the capability (maybe). But we can respect him for what he is.

So now that Zoro is willing to not follow strict sword style to win against King, does he stop being a swordsman now?
Also, Mihawk supporters never said every guy who carries a sword is a swordsman. How many of them call Kizaru a swordsman? How many of them call Queen a swordsman? It's a dumb argument that the anti-sword gang uses to devalue the sword team's arguments.

I think Mihawk and Shanks conversation after Luffy beat Arlong was a red herring and Mihawk did duel one-arm Shanks after becoming Yonkou. Mihawk won but was disappointed because he either would tie with two-arm Shanks or would always lose: beating one-arm Shanks, Yonkou or not, just wasn't the same. I'm one of the few here who wanks both Shanks and Mihawk. It's known that Oda foils Shanks and Mihawk with each other that I wouldn't be surprise if Mihawk's WSS title was somehow tied to a Shanks duel.

King using sword techniques, punches and kicks. It's pretty much mixed fighting style. Tbf, Zoro facing similar fighters since the beginning. WSS became side quest at this point. Or may be he will face Shiryu in future. That can be actual Swordsmen fight.

At least we get to know which one is swordsman. Not everyone who carries sharp object becomes swordsman.

It's crazy how many hours we've all spent thinking, talking and watching videos on this subject when it has almost 0 impact in the actual story.

:gokulaugh:

Pretty sure Oda has given almost 0 thought on this "Sowrdsman / Not-Swordsman" thing

I'm also quite sure he just gives swords to characters because it's a cool thing to create new swords and then after he decides if he wants that character to be considered a swordsman or not.

Just look at Cabaji and King, in many ways they are similar

Both kick, use fire, use projectile attacks, King can fly and Cabaji uses a Unicycle. All alongside having a sword.

Cabaji still considers himself a swordsman, an acrobat swordsman, and Zoro also believes this.

Here against King, Zoro also assumed King was a swordsman at first sight too, despite seing him able to conjure fire and other shit, but King is the one saying he never understood why someone would consider themselves a swordsman and stick to one style, when you can do whatever the fuck you want in a fight, so Zoro responds with "yeah, i guess you never said you were a swordsman", so that pretty much sums it up that Zoro at first thought King was still a swordsman despite using fire and kicking around, he only stopped considering King as a swordsman when King himself said he doesn't call himself one.
