that's your opinion if he is doing that or not though,usopp does that way more than sanji in fact so did tama,and yet only luffy's was ever given any importance.
It's very telling how sanji has so little going for him that you all always have to leech off of other characters to try and make him more important than he is.

There were no sneak attacks and sanji did detect them, they all did. They were staring right at them just before they shot the bullet. Luckily sanji was the first to wake up, showing that even namis body has better endurance than zolo.

He says about power not about people. That means he isn't afraid of Luffy and Sanji but is afraid of who they may recruit. In that case Zoro who he is willing to overcome himself.

Narrative wise, Sanji has a crazy potential. We only know about Sanji's full backstory so far, we have yet to discover what his Diable Jambe's origin is so expect some crazy lore for Sanji in the future. And it's not even EOS yet. Sanji really are one of the most intriguing characters so far due to his immense plot involvement and development. Good stuff.

Sanji turns helpless fodder who were forced to be evil into allies
Luffy does it to dangerous/strong/top tiers like Jinbei/Crocodile/WB into an ally

Also Viola. Had she just went with her plan and killed him after getting the information from his head, she wouldn't have put trust in the SHs to save the day because remember they literally were there to destabilize the country as Law even put it. Luffy just changed his mind and on Law to help instead and Viola put trust in them after her dealings with Sanji. One who can wreck everything and know every secret in the area you're in isn't fodder.
