We can get into depth, but that's not what I meant. It takes maturity to look past how cartoonishly evil he is, and how goofy he looks at times. He's a super badass character with tons of personality. It's far easier to make badass characters that are one note stoics.
One of the hardest One Piece characters, if not the hardest. Dude is introduced critiquing booze in the middle of stomping out commanders. Just compare how he rocks the Admiral gear to the rest of em, unbuttoned, 8 pack showing, chest out, massive tats running down his torso. He completely personalized the Admiral look, to make it his own. Like imagine, a thug running such a prestigious post, that's a paradox.
He's not drawn to be conventionally attractive either, but he's not super ugly, which makes him that much better. There's some nuance there. Compare him to a "badass" like Shanks, who just screams gary stu.
