No competition lol.

I used to hate Akainu for blowing Whitebeard's head off. That proves Oda succeeded in creating a great antagonist, i.e., a character you root against. Dont compare Kaido to Akainu as an antagonist.

The antagonist is the one working against the protagonist. You don't necessarily have to cheer against him.

Kaido and Akainu are both as much of an antagonist as Buggy and Foxy. Portrayal and results may differ, but it's their being an obstacle that matters.

By what he did alone -- help Luffy awaken his DF -- Kaido will forever have an important narrative role.
For now, Akainu has a better portrayal, though this could very well turn soon into a wet fart, depending on what Oda does (or doesn't do) with him.
