You can just put a rule to fight everyone.
Done.
But nuzlockes also use level caps as a possible rule. Sometimes it gets really annoying to getting pass some trainers because you're close to the level cap, etc.
Giving you more active management of who and when to fight is not a bad thing, IMO.
It's not like the base game would be a "challenge" if it was normal. Base games are easy as fuck.

Guys how is the system with the 18Gym(Medals) working out?
You can take the 3 routes, one where you beat the Orginal 8Gym, but also you can gain 10Medals from different gamestories like facing the villians and co?
How is this working out, like you first beat the first Gym and then take the medal from the villian and repeat that or do you need to take all medals from the villians first and then face the Orginal Gyms?
