You both are in luck then. The Best Part (PART 7) is currently in production so when the anime starts you can just watch it from there because Part 7 starts a new continuity.

I actually sometimes bite through the 1st season to get to the good parts because in some instances it's the set up for the story. Sad thing is that if series don't get a subsequent season we're left with having to read the source material or just drop it.
