I think the Awakenings probably have to do with the User and the Fruit being aligned with each other's goals. Both "wills" working together to achieve the same goal. We know that Devil Fruits are the results of human's "wishes" or "desires". So, the User has to have the same "wish" as the Fruit they have.
Therefore, it's probably probably "easier" to Awaken some Fruits compared to others.
I think we've probably already seen a few Logia Awakenings. Akainu and Aokiji's fight on Punk Hazard permanently changed the environment of the island around their fight. If that doesn't count as a "Awakening" than I don't know what would count. It's not confirmed by Oda, but I'm assuming Logia Awakenings are when you change your environment around you.
This is probably harder to achieve than some other Devil Fruit Awakenings just because it's only situationally useful. There probably wouldn't be a lot of times where any human would actually WANT the land around them to turn into magma or lightning or whatever. It'd actually be more annoying than helpful in most situations. So, Logia Awakenings are probably rarer just by virtue of the User needing to WANT to turn the area around them into their element.
As for cloning Logias, that's probably just too complex for Vegapunk to achieve for now. It's just showing us how advanced the Ancient Kingdom (or the Forest God) was, compared to Vegapunk. It is basically a "terraforming" Fruit. It's advanced technology to put the information of a element and put it into a Fruit you can eat.
Also...if the Devil Fruits come from Outer Space or something, it's possible that Vegapunk is actually using the "wrong planet" as his "sample" while trying to copy the Logias. The current "One Piece World" may have already been "mutated" by these Devil Fruits. So, if the Devil Fruits are actually using a "unmutated" or "alien" world as the basis for it's elemental samples, then Vegapunk is actually starting in the wrong place. Vegapunk would need information from how this world originally was pre-terraforming, or from the original "alien world" these Devil Fruits originally came from. Vegapunk is basically trying to re-create elements from one world, while living in a mutated altered world with a completely different "elemental" base. It'd be like trying to re-create soil samples from Africa, while you're living in the middle of the USA. It's just a completely different elemental makeup.
Now, the Mythical Zoan cloning is interesting. Because we really only have one data point to go on. Vegapunk only tried to clone Kaido's Dragon Fruit. We never saw Vegapunk trying to clone any other Mythical Zoan Fruits.
In this case, I'd say Vegapunk's "imperfect" clone is probably due to just not having a lot of ways to collect samples. Kaido's strong. There probably aren't a lot of ways for Government Agents to collect samples to bring to Vegapunk.
So, I have to wonder. Is it possible that Vegapunk used a different "kind" of Dragon to fill in the gaps of his samples of Kaido? We know that Vegapunk was also experimenting with cloning Western Dragons, resulting in Punk Hazard's Dragon Number 13. And Dragon 13 was Red. Momo's dragon form is pink. Is it possible that Vegapunk basically used parts of Kaido's DNA and parts of other dragons to create a "hybrid" of the two? Is Momo's Dragon Form basically a "hybrid" of Western and Eastern Dragons?
I also wonder if there could be something in the environment that could be causing the "imperfection" in Vegapunk's Dragon Fruit cloning projects. It's possible that the "imperfection" isn't Vegapunk's fault at all. It might be something about the WORLD itself that's changed.

Because of The Mural from Chapter 1138, I think we're all halfway expecting the Red Line to turn out to be related to the Hellflame Serpent. And if the Red Line isn't a "natural" construct, it's possible that it's presence in the world could be changing other factors in the environment around the world. In essence....the Red Line is red, so it might be affecting other things, and possibly making it so that other Dragons ALSO become red. "Eastern Dragons" might just be VERY sensitive to environmental changes like that.
The existence of the Red Line or some other environmental factors may be what caused Momo's Artificial Dragon Fruit to change colors. Much like a fish changing colors due to a change in sea temperature or other environmental factors.
Now, the meat of the issue. The Ribbons.
So far, as far as I'm aware, we're seen the following Black and White Ribbons around different Zoan users.
Black:
Saturn's Gyuki. V Nusjuro's Bakotsu. Ju Peter's Sandworm. Warcury's Fengxi. Mars' Itsumade. Lucci's Leopard. Kaku's Giraffe. Shamrock's Cerberus Sword.
White:
Luffy's Nika. Yamato's Okuchi no Makami. Qilingham's Kirin.
Flame:
Kaido's Dragon. Momo's Artificial Dragon.
Non-Awakened Mythical Zoans:
Marco's Phoenix. Sengoku's Daibutsu. Caterina Devon's Kitsune. Orochi's Orochi. Onimaru's Onyudo. Stronger's Pegasus.
Now, in Japanese mythology, this "Ribbon" actually has a name. It's called a "Tenne". And it's used to mark those who are "heavenly messengers" sent by the Gods. Think of it like a halo or wings. Basically, the beings with these Ribbons are "angels".

No matter how you cut it, these Ribbons are weird.
Just having a Mythical Zoan isn't always enough to get any sort of Ribbon. So, it's not JUST symbolizing having a Mythical Zoan. At the same time, it's strange that SOME Mythical Zoans get the ribbon seemingly automatically (see Young Yamato in SBS 110), but others don't.
And the Ribbons aren't exclusive to Mythical Zoan's anyway. Kaku and Lucci are proof of that. Maybe you could say that Kaku's is basically a Japanese pun. With Giraffe being "kirin" in Japanese, the same as the mythical creature. But, as far as I know, leopards have no "mythical pun" associated with them. So, seemingly ANY Zoan could get one of these Ribbons when they awaken.
The Black Ribbons COULD symbolize some sort of "corruption" or allegiance to Imu. But, that wouldn't explain Qilingham's White Ribbon.
No matter how you cut it, Kaido and Momo's Dragon Fruits are odd. Because they're the only ones with orange "Flame" Ribbons around their arms. They might not be Awakened. Or they're just Awakened in a different way than what the Black or White Ribbons symbolize.
The "Flame" Ribbons could be used to keep Dragons distinct from the other Mythical Zoans. Because it's possible Dragons aren't actually "mythical" in the One Piece World at all. We know from Ryuma's backstory in Monsters that at least some Dragons used to exist for real in this world. So, maybe that could explain the "Flame Ribbons" being different from everyone else's.
But, ultimately, I think I'm going to go back to the beginning of this post and link it all together. I think that some Devil Fruits are simply easier to Awaken than others.
I think it's possible that most of the Mythical Zoans WANT to Awaken. Which is why it seems to be so much easier to Awaken a Zoan than a Logia. We already know that Zoan Fruits already have a bit of a will of their own. I think the Mythical Zoans just WANT to obey and get stronger the most out of any of the Devil Fruits. This might explain how Yamato was possibly "Awakened" even as a child.
As for the color of the Ribbon, I think that has to do with HOW the User is fulfilling the Dream of the Fruit.
White Ribbons are "pure". The User and the Fruit are trying to fulfill their dreams together. Working together. For their own sake. Trying to better themselves.
Black Ribbons are "impure". The User might be fulfilling the Dream of the Fruit, but only under a technicality. The Users aren't pursuing these Dreams for their own sake. They're pursuing the Dream for the sake of some other reason. A "corrupt" reason. Either because they're being subservient or enslaved to someone else. Or because they want revenge on someone. They are fulfilling the Dreams, not for their own sake or their own betterment. But, for some other, outside reason. The User and the Fruit are aligned, but it's a slightly FORCED alignment. A "Corrupted Dream" so to speak.
This might be how we explain Qilingham. Because, while we don't know a lot about him yet, he does strike me personally as a "true believer". The Kirin is a symbol of "purity" in Japanese culture. It's basically a Japanese Unicorn. And Qilingham is the only Gods Knight who is wearing a bubble helmet. Possibly because, "it's the law", and he sees it as the right thing to do. It's possible that Qilingham is NOT suppressing his "true desires" like some of the other members of the World Government. Qilingham might truly believe that serving Imu is the right and moral and just thing to do. We'll have to see if this is correct later.
As for the Flame Ribbons...well, those are still an outlier. Kaido actually is NOT pursuing his true Dream, which is likely becoming Joyboy. But, he is working towards trying to help someone else achieve that dream...in his own messed up way. Similarly, Momo puts his own Dreams and desires to the side for the sake of helping his people. So, it's possible that these "Flame Ribbons" are somewhere in-between the White and Black Ribbons. They aren't "pure"...but they're not really "impure" either. The "Flame Ribbons" might symbolize taking a "support" role in achieving the Dream of the Fruit? Maybe.
...I may have gotten slightly off topic. But, I kind of wanted an excuse to do a deep dive about these Ribbons. So sue me.
