Are Apoo and Hawkins failures?

As much as I hate to admit it but Yes.
I think like Oda made the supernovas group too large and he just felt like he can't use them as much as he would like to.

Hawkins, Bege, and Apoo feel like the trio of the supernovas that will get the spotlight here and there but nothing important later on.

Like it's been said, becoming a Supernova/Worst Generation, it's a pretty big thing. I feel like as a whole, I wish that Oda would have made all of the Supernova/Worst Gen (Luffy and Teach aside) easily comparable to each other in terms of strength and simply have Luffy edge the rest of them out as he is the one taking out the main force/enemy with every place they decide to help.

All of the Worst Gen are strong, but it just feels like Luffy just has way more tricks up his sleeve that will give him a better advantage. Granted, there are individuals whom we havent even begun to see the entirety of what they are capable of which is basically the rest of them aside from Law and Zoro whom I think we could see a bit more as far as Zoro is concerned.

And obviously, I want to see everything Drake is capable of.

Anyway, I wouldn't say that Apoo and Hawkins are failures. Every chooses their path/makes their choices. It doesn't mean they have to stick it out if it's not going well.

For Hawkins, i think his motive to joins Beast Pirates its just because he cant survive if he fought Kaido back then when Kaido jump from the sky Island.

Thats why he might said, "Aight, Kaido-san. I'll be joining The Beast Pirates"
Is he failure? I dont think so. Because he just want to take a safe trip, not the ambition.

For Apoo, i dont know how to describe. From his motive, its little bit confusing.

Apoo is likely built-up to be the Ochoku of the new generation by joining BBP. Both Apoo and Ochoku are based on real-life Chinese pirate lords (Chui-A-poo and Wang Zhi respectfully).

His traitorous nature though, is something to be expected when the story is written by a Japanese author highlighting a Japanese-themed arc.

Every generation has losers and silver medalists. I would classify supernovas this way:

Gold medalists (characters that will be important in history): Luffy, Zoro, Law, Kidd and Killer.

Silver medalists: Bege and Urouge.

Losers: Hawkins (for now) and Apoo.

I do not include X Drake and Bonnie, since the first one is a marine and the second one is no longer a pirate. But I think their importance will be above the silver medalists and below the gold ones.
