His awakening wasn’t properly explained, same for all awakenings?
Yea Doflamingo's and Katakuri's awakening also werent explained. But its different with Luffy, since we are reading One Piece from his perspective. Luffy has more burden to develop and bloom as a character compared to other characters. If a shonen author can't make reader root for the MC's struggle and perseverence, - and in Luffy's case creative process - in such a decisive point in the story which is with The World's Strongest Creature as one of the ultimate hurdle to overcome, and resort to freely give the MC godlike powers instead? The story becomes gary stu territory and it becomes unrelatable. Why bother making max effort and max creativity if Luffy will be just given the strongest power at all without him trying to earn it deliberately? Just give him all the powers and make him become the strongest, thats all what wish fulfillment is. But that's a story lacking of meaning.

He doesn't have the strongest power though. He has the most ridiculous one.
