I’m still of the mind that it should be Kid

Kid and Law are portrayed to be among Luffy’s greatest allies outside his crew.

In wano, you had the SHs fighting the beast pirates. Luffy’s allies fought Kaido’s allies. Obviously you had some matchups like Killer vs Hawkins and Inu vs Jack, but this is mostly how it was.

Imu’s main crew is the gorosei and the HKs. Hence those will mostly be defeated by the SHs.

The marines, while being under the WG, are still a faction of their own. Hence they will likely be beaten by allies.

Imo:

Dragon vs Akainu
Teach vs Kizaru
Kid vs GB
Law vs Fujitora
Dude Kidd was one shot material for Shanks and you want him to fight another top tier? Unless he gets much stronger I don't see that ever happening.

Pushes him to a high or extreme diff though I guess it depends on whether or not he really has a black blade and if he forged it himself
Nothing even remotely suggests this is the case

by feats and portrayal Shanks is likely top 3, with only Imu and Mihawk above him

The giants’ experienced Warcury’s haki, but ultimately compared Joyboy’s haki to Shanks’s instead. And mind you the last time they witnessed Shanks’s haki was when he did divine departure.

Shanks showed he could replicate Joyboy’s technique of negating DFs with CoC. He deactivated GB’s powers.

And most of GB’s strength comes from his powers. A 1v1 against Shanks would probably be a low diff.

He's ultimately still just a top tier, though. He may have superior Haki and what not but that doesn't stop him from pushed to a high diff or so by people like Aramaki and Issho

Mihawk being above Shanks is like zoro being above luffy

Shanks didn't deactivate GB df
He still had his vines around until he himself competely gave up

Joyboy forced Gorosei to revert them completely without having time to even think or speak

“Top tier” is fan terminology

Portrayal and feats speak for themselves. GB shat his pants at Shanks’s haki and Shanks one shot a guy with the same bounty as him.

Sure you can say bounty isn’t strength and GB>>Kid and you’re probably right, but The narrative still places Shanks on another level from the 3 billion berry characters.

Hence the narration emphasized Kid’s bounty when describing his loss, something that didn’t happen for Law.

The difference between GB and Kid is probably that, while Kid got taken out by 1 DD, GB might get taken out by 2-3.

I can feel a certain pain in this character's gist,
his past clings tight, like a ghost in the mist.
And though time may heal, and wounds may close,
Some scars will linger, where the darkness grows.
Among the twigs, so liberating
The forest breathes new life, with the rain, so rejuvenating.
