Character Discussion Are Admirals>Yonkous as characters?

#41
On average, yes.
Only Emperors I would say for sure are better characters than the Admirals are Luffy (though post-G5 Luffy can be annoying) and Blacbkeard.
Buggy is good, but ultimately still a gag character with not much else to his name.
And Kaido is pretty great but the Admirals are probably going to have more depth and development than him when it's their time to shine imo.
Could be wrong though.
Whitebeard is great but I personally prefer the Admirals
Fuck Big Mom and Shanks.

The man strong
Like he delivered power level wise and was a real Yonko level threat

But outside of that the man has like 0 interesting characteristics

You can even argue that BM, Totland and the BMP, WCI and BMP as a whole are more interesting and original
:ronalugh:Damn
He's one of my favorite OP villains
He's not as deep as Doflamingo or Blackbeard but I think he was pretty good for what he was
I just wish Oda delved more into why he was suicidal though

Oden wank killed what could’ve been an interesting character who’s trying to make everyone equal by plunging the world into war. But instead of expanding on that and giving an interesting character… we got Zaraki without the aura who spent too much screen time jerking off Oden.
Okay this is admittedly a fair complaint honestly. But that's just a running theme with Wano as an arc, Yamato also wanked Oden (though she was given a valid reason to do so since she used Oden's journal as a sort of coping method, but still) for example.

Kaido is the opposite of Big Mom, he was certainely portrayed as super badass, even if he was still held back, but his characterization was far too neglected and messed up.

Even Akainu is quite nuanced. He comes off as a mad dog, but he's a very cunning character as well, we saw this when he used speech to get to to Ace. He's not a meathead like you'd expect a character like him to be.

He's also very radical but he also has a human side to him as well.

And this is supposed to be like the most straightforward of the Admirals.

Explain mother mode BM being over Wizaru
In terms of character design and personality, Big Mom is generally considered the more compelling and well-developed character. While Kizaru is a strong and powerful character, Big Mom's backstory, motivations, and complex relationships with her family and other characters make her more memorable and interesting.

Here's why:

  • Big Mom's Motivations and Backstory:
Big Mom's desire to create a family and her history as a pirate Queen add depth and complexity to her character. Her tragic backstory and her attempts to build a family, even with the chaos it causes, make her more relatable and interesting than Kizaru, who is often portrayed as a stoic and unemotional figure.
  • Character Interactions and Relationships:
Big Mom's interactions with her family, particularly her daughters, and other characters like Luffy and Kaido, showcase a wider range of emotions and motivations. Kizaru, on the other hand, primarily interacts with his fellow Marines, and his interactions with other characters are often limited.
  • Visual Design and Impact:
Big Mom's unique and imposing appearance, combined with her powerful abilities, makes her a standout character in the series. Her "Homies" and her powerful attacks add to her visual impact, making her more memorable than Kizaru, who primarily relies on his light-based abilities.
  • Character Development:
Big Mom's journey and struggles throughout the series, particularly during the Wano Country arc, highlight her flaws and insecurities, making her a more relatable character than Kizaru, who is often portrayed as a master of his craft.
In conclusion, while Kizaru is a formidable character with powerful abilities, Big Mom's character design, backstory, and complex relationships make her a more compelling and interesting character to many fans.
