Questions & Mysteries At what point will Luffy stop getting help?

#1
A lot of people speculated that after Luffy became a legitimate top tier (sky splitting was the metric at the time irc), the times of needing help in fights would end. That there would be no more vital assistance from allies, timely handouts or as many plot conveniences.

Egghead unfortunately was not that point, so when do you think it will be? Will it be solo against Blackbeard? WG forces? Share your thoughts.

This is Luffy with Dorry and Brogy for example:

One Piece relies too much on the luck factor, especially since the time-skip. The Straw Hats are a bunch of losers, but the circumstances always play in their favor. God Usopp was a disgrace. They can't defeat Sugar, then come the memes. Luffy can't defeat Cracker. No problem, he'll just eat his biscuit army. Haha, so damn funny. This kind of idiocy is what Oda loves. Here's another classic: Jinbe rescues Luffy and the others from captivity on Whole Cake Island, and Opera doesn't bother to mention it. What could he have done about it, anyway? Jinbe knocked him out. But the whole thing served to make them unprepared for the action against Big Mom. I won't even get into what happened during Wano, it would just waste more of my life. And yes, this has been happening continuously since then, and no change in narrative is going to fix this, no matter if Luffy became a Yonko or if the Straw Hats are called Yonko commanders. Not to mention that since the time-skip, it's almost only Luffy who gets fights, and he pulls off some serious asspulls there too.

As for Blackbeard... I think it will pretty much be a 1v1 situation between everyone, except for the Weak Trio, and it's likely that Robin/Franky/Brook won't be able to handle a fight completely alone, independently. And let's not even talk about Aokiji, the long-awaited betrayal will probably happen at the exact moment the Straw Hats set foot on Hachinosu.

At this point I can’t even imagine Usopp going solo against anyone. Oda will have to come up with something stunning to explain how he isn’t immediately headshot by Van Augur.

Usopp is the most pathetic example of the neglect Oda has shown towards the Straw Hats in recent years. I was really looking forward to seeing how cool he would be after the timeskip, it was all set up. But nothing came of it. In Dressrosa, he awakened Observation Haki, yet since then, there hasn't been any sign of him using it, nothing was done with it. In Wano, he finally got a powerful, strong opponent, but he didn't stand a chance. Big Mom defeated the opponent instead of him. I can't imagine what kind of power-up he could get in Elbaf that would give him any chance against Van Augur; the only thing I can imagine is if he ate some incredibly strong Devil Fruit that would resonate with his sniping skills. I don't even understand how people can be excited about Usopp and look forward to Elbaf when the signs are very worrying

Usopp's bloodline links him to the legendary Loika, the "Selfless Dancing Giant". He was Joyboy's best friend 800 years in the past and stored his haki in his long nose, a genetic trait passed down through generations. That will allow Usopp to beat Van Augur with low difficulty.

The problem is that this isn't funny, because I can easily imagine it without any exaggeration

Elbaf is gonna be shit
The character writing will be abysmal as always but i think this could one cool thing Oda can do.
The problem with this Mjölnir thing is that if it's not about strength, then it has to be about worthiness, and Usopp isn't better in either. Why would he be worthy of it? What would justify him having this mythical wonder weapon? Usopp isn't just weak; he's still cowardly and useless to this day.

Even after 1000 chapters, the only courage he could muster was whispering to the crying Nami that she should feel free to deny Luffy and his dream after Ulti headbutted both of them. He told her that staying alive and not getting her brains smashed in was more important. :usosmug:

Usopp is one of the Strawhats that has been swallowed up too, or gone through a time of swallowing at least. Barely did anything for him though…
Nami deserves a whole sermon too... Though she bothers me less because she was already incapable of fighting even before the time-skip. Since then, the only improvement is that she got Zeus, which on its own will be nowhere near enough against any of the other Yonko commanders. Ulti was basically defeated by Big Mom too, so don't be misled by the fact that it was Zeus's lightning strike that finally knocked her out. If Big Mom hadn't pierced her body, nothing like that would have happened.

The problem with Chopper is that it's not just the Navy that sees him as a mere pet, but Oda does too. He hasn't had a proper fight since Enies Lobby, just like the rest of the Weak Trio, even though he has way more potential than the other two losers

If Mjolnir was gonna happen i'd assume it would be about courage
"Only a brave warrior of the sea can use this hammer" and at a moment of self sacrifice or something Usopp lifts it and defeats the enemy.

What do you mean by help?
Goofy defeated Kaido solo. He doesn't really need help to defeat someone. It's just nika powers are wack so he can't maintain it for long duration.
When it comes to power he doesn't lack anything.

You do realize that the fight didn't start when Luffy switched to Gear 5, right? There were at least 50 chapters of battle before that, and while Luffy was only fighting Kaidou, Kaidou was fighting everyone else. Luffy has never been able to defeat his opponents on his own, and especially not Kaidou. Even after getting knocked out three times, he constantly had his butt saved and somehow miraculously got back on his feet. For the final showdown to even happen, they first had to come up with the idea that the power we've believed to be the Gomu Gomu fruit for 25 years wasn't what we thought, but rather a Mythical Zoan that grants our beloved protagonist the power of a god. Luffy needs idiocies and asspulls the likes of which no manga reader has ever seen. And he's the captain of the Straw Hats."

When should Luffy stop getting help? You mean the guy who died in Wano and resurrected as Nika? At the very least he would have to somehow lose his devil fruit powers to at least be able to say he owns his body. At this point Nika is even worse than Naruto with Kurama.
