You do know that the power jump gets explained later on in TYBW, right? The explanation makes sense to me. Whether that is satisfying or not is a whole other topic.
Its not about the power jump mess.
Its the god awful kind of powers he gave characters like Gerard etc,.

Not to mention the ending of Yhwach

Kubo was clearly rushing things and the writing gets as shoddy as possible.

I don’t get the arc length complaint when in Bleach things move really quick compared to Dressrosa and Wano lol
When in anywhere do things move quickly in Bleach? The first arc, Agent of the Shinigami, is literally 50+ chapters of set-up to get the story ready to finally get to the fucking Soul Society Arc.

Most authors get right into their story in the first couple of chapters but Kubo takes feckin 50 chapters of set-up and most of it is boring. Celebrity ghost buster bloke, stupid high school shenanigans and haunted parakeet boy could be cut entirely and we wouldn't miss anything. Hell, Chad and Uryu could arguably be cut considering the former is dead weight that only exists to clear fodder/stall big bads for 60 seconds and the latter is a completely impotent rival to Ichigo that partakes in the worst crime known to shonen writing with his bullshit arrow in the final fight.

Then after the Soul Society Arc is over, we are immediately treated to another fucking rescue arc. Two rescue arcs following a roughly similar format back-to-back. We could have just immediately gone into a war arc but nope, we get another fucking rescue arc interrupting the stuff that would be much more fun to see.

How about that time Aizen spent about an entire damn volume dicking around with Ichigo's fodder high school friends because he insisted on walking slowly instead of actually moving? Seeing several chapters of Aizen doing nothing but walking slowly was painful.

How about that time Kubo tries to get us to get weepy over a Vice Captain dying even though said Vice Captain had about 10 lines of dialogue before his demise?

How about that time during TYBW we get subjected to multiple enemies that refuse to just die?

Like that time Shunsui won his fight against Barro and the fight could have just ended there but Kubo spontaneously decides that no, we need fucking Nanao of all fucking people needs screen time but she is obviously leagues below Barro, who just turned into some weird energy spirit shaped like chicken/equine chimaera abomination. Remember how Kubo made Nanao overcome that power gap by going into an inane family history about a cursed Zanpakuto mirror sword that Shunsui used his own Zanpakuto sword spirit's daughter to hide said cursed mirror sword that could only be used by Nanao herself and only used against an opponent like Barro? Remember how that still didn't kill Barro who then managed to duplicate himself into a bunch of energy chickens that get off screened by a cyborg Izuru that everybody thought was dead? You see how long it took to explain all that bullshit? That was just one fight, the entirety of TYBW arc is filled with fights like this.

Bleach has got utterly shit tier pacing. Lel.

I’m ngl in all of TYBW I think Gerard is the only character that has abilities that are just as bad as Yhwach’s to me (and Lille but that’s a whole other story)

His power literally made him an unkillable power up show off machine

Surely, Law/Kid unlocking DF Awakening after decades of using their fruits is a bigger asspull :afrokappa:

Luffy's awakening was one though, no disagreement. Imo him unlocking CoC and fighting Kaidou made a bit of sense but the Awakening as the 3 rd PU to fight Kaidou was laughable though.

To be fair, I feel like Oda's taken this criticism on-board moving forward. He immediately named Lucci's form and called it an awakening officially.

In fact, he also made it clear when awakening was used on Wano - only issue is he didn't make it clear who wasn't awakened. The only awakened characters were Luffy, Law and Kid. What he should've done is explained why some fruits are harder to awaken than others/at least have Kaido or BM discuss the topic of their own awakening, but nope.

I just finished Bleach ep 0-366... One Piece should take absolutely nothing from that show. The power scale is all over the place, Ichigo is like a fighting god with no peers amongst his useless friends, Chad is the most utterly useless jobber, Inoue the most jarring female in anime history and the captains are kept relevant through random, unexplained power creeps. If someone loses their power and gets it back again one more time in that show I'm uppercutting Kubo's nan.

Nah, other characters had completely nonsensical powers besides Yhwach, Gerard, Barro and Nanao.

Gremmy was a full on reality warper that had no business being in Bleach or being defeated by Kenpachi, a dude whose only power is physically hitting things really hard.

Kurotsuchi's science drugs become completely batshit. First, he invents a drug that can manipulate literal time itself.... Just fucking how? Then he hijacks the zombie Shinigami captains from Zombie-hoe Quincy and then has them go fight against Indian-Guru-Cupid Quincy (who has another dumb arse power), who states that Zombie-hoe's zombies cannot resist his love powers only for Kurotsuchi's hijacked Zombies to resist the love arrows because "my zombies don't feel love".....

My feckin brain hurts from just remembering those two alone, never mind any of the others. :shame:

If you get time you should. There's a guy who always defends bleach no matter what. I think it will be interesting interaction lol

Love Bleach but it has the worst power scale I've ever witnessed.

Zero consistency across the board. Well aside from Hitsugaya taking Ls and Chad being a fodder that is. Kubo's on top of those.

No thanks. One forum is enough for me.

I remember there was a discussion about who could be considered the deuteragonist of Bleach and this was my response.

"Yeah, Rukia is the closest thing to a deuteragonist from Bleach. Ishida is the ineffective rival, Orihime is the love interest and Chad is just... There. Lol."

Funny thing is that I actually like Chad's design, character personality and powers but the man is so fundamentally useless that he could be completely removed and nothing of value would be lost. He gets gains only to dick on fodder and stall a big bad for 60 seconds. :milaugh:

Lmfao fr, for someone hyped as a prodigy that boy Toshiro takes the most Ls I've ever seen... Behind Chad of course.

I just finished the Fullbringer arc yesterday - the look of shock on Chad the Fullbringer's face as Ichigo mastered Bringer Light and surpassed him after approximately 0.5 seconds as a Fullbringer truly cemented Chad's position as the biggest jobber in anime history.

I think he's one of the few supporting protagonists in anime history to where if he quite literally did not exist... The story would be exactly the same. Even sidemen like the Konoha 11 had their uses lmao

Aah yes, HyperboleGen strikes again!

Bleach has it's strong points:
-cool looking characters
-interesting power system
-epicness of Ban Kai!
-one really great arc (Soul Society) with an equally great villain

But let's not ignore the assines, becazse there's lots of it:
-soul society 2.0 but not that good this time, i.e. Arrancar Arc
-Chad and Orihime take the bakseatest backseat ever
-Ichigo's cocktail-esque DNA (might be too subjective ig)
-The Uno Reverse Card of "My ability conveniently is a perfect counter to your ability that I saw for the first time rn" - TYBW
-The end of TYBW
-Fullbringer arc

It's still good and there are hyoe scenes, but let's take a breather with the deepthroating
It is incredibly strange to see users on this forum that rail against the story/abilities of One Piece suddenly turn around and start praising the story/abilities of Naruto and of feckin Bleach.

I haven't seen Naruto, so I ain't gonna comment on that one. I will however say that nearly every Naruto fan I have ever come across hated the direction Naruto took and how Naruto ended. Lol.

Bleach meanwhile isn't even a story. It is a series of events that happen to a certain set of characters in a particular world.

Compare these three:

1) One Piece is the story of Luffy, a man who seeks to become the freest man in the world by claiming the title of Pirate King through claiming the One Piece.

One Piece's name comes from the One Piece, the titular plot point.

2) Naruto is the story of Naruto, a boy who seeks to become the Hokage in order to be accepted, respected and loved by his arsehole village neighbours.

Naruto is named after the titular character.

3) Bleach is about.... Well there is this bloke called Ichigo who..... Well he doesn't actually have any life goals but er.... He has to fight some arseholes cause they keep coincidentally popping into his life and inconveniently fucking shit up.... Yeah, that's kinda it. :risicheck:

Bleach is called Bleach because..... Kubo thought it would sound cool.... :lawsigh:

See how the first two have an actual story being driven by actual proactive protagonists that have actual life goals and motivations while Bleach is just a series of events that coincidentally happen to this one guy that is left to react to whatever petty bullshit the current arc villain is cooking up? Not even the fucking name holds any meaning.

Seriously, if Aizen and Yhwach weren't around, literally nothing would happen in the world of Bleach because everything that happens is a reaction to those two making a mess. Ichigo would be content to forever spend the rest of his days dunking on low level Hollow scrubs that occasionally plague his hometown.

Even worse is when the story attempts to treat Ichigo like some force of change and hands him things that he never earned and never even sought out.

Ichigo becomes the strongest not because he sought strength but because the story needs him to beat the current major arc villain. He doesn't train his strength all the time like Goku does, he doesn't seek strength to protect loved ones, no. He gets attacked by a random arsehole that the story needs him to beat because he just so happens to be the main character somehow.

Then there is that time during the Fullbringer Arc when Ichigo is stated to have changed the Soul Society. How? The Soul Society isn't shown to have changed in any way, it is still a bureaucratic shit hole that tears families apart. Hell, Ichigo doesn't even live in the Soul Society. How can he make changes he never sought to a world he doesn't even live in?

Folk are free to enjoy whatever they want for whatever reason (or even no particular reason at all). Bleach has cool character designs, a solid side cast, some cool abilities and a few decent fights. That is enough reasons to like it or find enjoyment out of it. Enjoyable doesn't have to be good, it only needs to be enjoyable.

People are completely deluded however if they go from ranting about how the writing flaws of One Piece make Oda's work intolerable to then claiming that Bleach is a better written manga. They should just admit that they are there for the aesthetics and move on cause they aren't going to find an actual story in Bleach.

Never finished bleach but I think shinigami swords can have up to like 5 real functions abilities. Obviously your sword has a shape and an ability and you get a new shape and ability when you get banzai. Though with devil fruits I feel like you possibly would get more. Like with Caesars fruit. Like with Zoans you get three forms out the gate and more with mythical Zoans and possibly even more with awakening. Though I rather have a cool sword rather than lose my ability to swim.

Bloke finished Soul Society Arc? Congratulations, it is downhill from there. :myman:

Also, Bankai make less sense the further on the series goes. So you can look forward to that I guess.
Look at how the man feels after finishing Aizen saga after acting all high & mighty about Bleach....:myman:
I just finished Aizen’s defeat. I think I might drop bleach at this point. The ending of that arc was honestly kinda mid. It also feels like the series should have ended at that point.

Aizen was handled badly and so I don’t really want to see how ichigo is going to beat Yhwach.
Good. But I'm sorry to tell you, that it's gonna get even worse.
