First Fight
Mr. Miyagi from Karate Kid
The Karate Kid's Mr. Miyagi has been inspiring generation after generation since 1984. The sensei that put karate on the map for an entire generation of kids was firm but soft-spoken, wise but humble, and offered Daniel LaRusso guidance, respect, and a fatherly sort of love. Who could ask for a better mentor?
vs
Yujiro from Baki
Second Fight
Satoru Gojo from JJK
Gojo Satoru
What makes Satoru Gojo so good of a mentor is that despite him being the strongest around, a natural born genius and gifted, he can still easily notice his students' weaknesses and help them solve it.
Gojo Satoru is the best mentor for budding sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen. He is the strongest sorcerer, with both decades of battle experience and insider knowledge of the jujutsu society. This knowledge is invaluable, so those he passes it on to should count themselves lucky. Him being the teacher at the school that has henceforth produced sorcerers on the level of Yuji, Megumi, Yuta, Hakari and the rest is an achievement that speaks of itself. Each of these has fought and bested sorcerers from the Heian era touted as the Golden era of Jujutsu Sorcery.
He finds creative ways to help his students acquire what they need. Like the time he made Yuji watch movies in order for him to grasp and control cursed energy
He knows when he needs to take a step back and get help that he otherwise would not be able to do. A sign of a good mentor yet again.
Like the time he assigns Yuji to Nanami Kento
Because Nanami is better suited to show some things to Yuji.
With Megumi Satoru mentors him in a different way altogether. He is absolutely aware of the potential Megumi has and thus pushes him to reach that.
To win by dying and to win even if you die are completely different, Megumi.
It's the things Gojo taught them that save them each and every time they are in a difficult situation.
Gojo can adapt his teaching method to what is best suited for his students.
Gojo also knows that his students are still young and need a dose of fun at times.
When Yuji returns from death he helps him make his return less serious and easier for others to accept
What I like about Satoru as a mentor is that he gets his students and always thinks of them and thinks of them as equals, not in a strict teacher-student manner.
This is best exemplified during the Kyoto Goodwill event.
Long story short the Kyoto Goodwill event is an event where the two major Jujutsu Schools compete against each other. The students start by competing in teams with the final round always being 1 vs 1 fights. Now during the event they get attacked and the group that attacks them summons a barrier that prohibits Satoru Gojo from entering whilst allowing everyone and everything else entrance, which is crazy btw, that the jujutsu rules would allow something like that, but I'll stop there not to go on a tangent. Since Gojo can't enter the barrier the students and the other teachers have to fight those invaders. Until Satoru manages to break that barrier lmao, which again is just crazy but not to go on a tangent again I'll stop lol.
After the attack the other teachers decide amongst themselves to not continue with the regular school event at all. However Gojo leaves it up to the students themselves to decide whether the event should continue after all that went down. When they do decide to continue, the other adults are okay with following the same routine and having the students try to kill each other again. But Gojo decides that they will go with a baseball game instead, which not only helps the students take a much-needed breather but also lets the Kyoto students get to know Yuji as a fellow kid rather than as 'Sukuna's vessel'.
Gojo can adapt to virtually any of his students' needs and make it work. He did it with Yuji, Megumi and Yuta too
He won't allow anyone to take his students' youth away
That is why all of his students love him
To sum it up.
The ability to
> Teach people even though you are by far the strongest
> Adapt to each of your students
> Treat them as equals
> Always making them stronger
> Giving them all that's necessary to survive
> And not forgetting that at the end of the day they are still children and need a bit of fun every now and then
Are just some amongst the plethora of things that make Satoru Gojo the best mentor out there.
vs
Mufasa from Ling King
Mufasa is a great father figure/mentor because he is selflness, noble, tempered, fair, caring, loving, brave and so on. He instils a lot of great values into his son Simba, which persist for Simba afrer Mufasa's tragic death and help shape Simba into the great lion (adult/man) and leader of his pride/kind and thus the whole savannah too.
Mufasa when he saw his son was in mortal peril, didn't hestitate to rescue his son, despite the near certain risk of death for himself, even before he endeed up in that horrific certain situation, where his own brother betrayed him and caused his brutal death too.
When his son Simba is feeling lost, disillusioned and burdened, he appears to his son from beyond the grave, imparting his own wisdom and guidance, reinstilling his values and beliefs into him and helping shape Simba into the hero, adult and leader he is destined to be.
Lion King had some fantastic characters, voice acting, music and writing and Mufasa was a stand out, especially in how people can and should be, his words were not just for Simba or boys but for everyone to even gain benefit from and grow too.
(Rafiki the goat too)
In fact as a bonus, theres not only Mufasa rescuing his son from the wildebeest stampede later on but way before that, Mufasa had to rescue his son and Nala, another cub after they ventured into forbidden, dangerous territory and regardless of the danger, the risk, despite the responsibilites, the burdens he has as a leader, Mufasa did not even hesistate, showing his son the power of bravery, responsibility (especially with great power as Uncle Ben famously alludes to in Spiderman) and the cost of his mistakes and thus the burdens of sacrifice and consequences.
Mufasa led by example and was not afraid to use discipline, fear, authority as necessary tools but he was no tyrant either. He showed "pride"(no pun intended) in Simba and loved him too, reappearing one again post humously in Lion King 2 watching the celebration of his new granddaughter, the daughter of his own son and now current leader of his lion pride and the Savannah too ofc
Third Fight
Loid Forger from Spy x Family
vs
Kratos from God of War
β’ Synopsys
Kratos doesn't want Atreus to be like him; he wants him to be better, and that means committing to his own personal growth. βKratos is just doing his best to kind of guide him on what he sees as the safest path, the path to where his son will survive, even if he doesn't,β said Sophos.
Fourth Fight
Bols from Akame ga Kill
Summary:
On Duty: Before joining the Jaegars (MVs) , Bols's duty as a member of the Empire's Incineration Squad, Bols's duty was to wipe out whole villages, burning troublesome buildings and populations to the ground in the name of the Empire.
Off-Duty: Bols is a compassionate family man with a wife and daughter who adore him as much he does them. In the few scenes where we get to see them together, we see that he values them more than life itself.
He's a villain marked for death & he knows it. But that wont stop a good father from reaching out for his family with his last breath, & it didn't stop Bols

vs
Yujiro from Baki
Using unconventional methods Yujiro has been quite the mentor in Baki's life. He serves as Baki's main motivation in the story, shaped the mindset he has today, helped him grow to the fighter he is now. Baki has quite the community of buddies with him now that support his every step as well. This clip being the perfect example of above. Yujiro is very unconventional in general but it's worth looking into the grand scheme of things.

Third Fight
Loid Forger from Spy x Family
I think the reason why I nominated him for this tournament is the fact that he is portrayed rather realistically as a new parent. He is perfect at his job as a spy, but is having the challenge of his life in taking care of a 5-year old mind-reader that he adopted for his mission. He yells at Anya a little too often at times, struggles to understand why she does what she does, and is trying to balance what he expects from her to accomplish Operation Strix & the kind of a world he wants her to have. I think this is a problem any parent or parental figure can relate to, especially since your kids are, after all, human beings like you are. It's almost like parenthood is in itself a mission impossible.
His role as a father (and a husband) also slowly allows him to rediscover his humanity and a sense of normalcy after living so long for the sake of the mission following the tragedy that he endured in the story's version of World War II.
Above all others, fathers in animes/mangas are usually gone or dead or away or nonexistent. Not with this one. He is worrisome and imperfect as a father, but he is there for Anya every step of the way. No hiding in the distance or living her alone in the world or other tired tropes. He's there for her and, while he is a flawed father, he is also willing to better himself as a parent. For the mission Anya's sake.

Ging from HxH
Negligence is often the cause of independence and self-sufficiency, providing an opportunity for a child to reach levels of maturity and mental strength that adults cannot achieve. Gon Freecs is 12, and yet he accomplished enough to make himself incredibly resilient and motivated.
Yet, the purpose of Gon's drive is to meet Ging. The inspiration that led him to reach heights that most hunters wouldn't even be able to imagine. The greatest thing that happened to Gon, was his father inspiring him, and showing him that chasing what you want is more important than anything.
Ging is the epitome of a father figure, not much more needs to be said about him. Gon would be nothing wihtout Ging.
