Is literally leave him out of the story. A couple appearances, meeting his son, maybe give him some advice on not being strategically retarded. Then during the final war have him fight some sideline big bad in short cutscenes. Someone relat3d to the plot but apart.Keep dragon a mystery.

well, Oda gave Oden and Kuma a lot of spotlight. I wont be suprised if he gives Dragon like 50 chapters of flashback. People are dillusional thinking that One Piece will end in 5 years.
