Contrary to what kid fans say, the surprise effect didn't affect the outcome at the slightest.
If Shanks can frontally approach a fully attentive and battle-ready kid from 1km away and launch a full blown attack on him, oneshotting in the process, this means the following:
- Kid's CoO is shit for not noticing him coming
- Kid's CoA is shit (in fact we haven't seen a single panel for proof he had some) for not being able to block it like zoro blocked a point blank surprise explosion at building size
- Kid's speed is shit for not being able to dodge after he noticed Shanks
- Kid's durability is shit for literally being oneshot by a guy who hurriedly ran and jumped a km distance to launch an improvised attack with zero prep time
- Kid's crew is shit for not noticing the danger. Caring for the ships safety should at least be the job of some helmsman. But only killer reportedly reacted, even faster than Kid by coming closer to support him.
- Kid's battle intelligence is shit. What did he expect would happen after his beam? He intends to fight a non DF user yonko crew at sea without having enough metal scrap around. Metal scrap that makes 98% of his offensive power.
- if you say he was preparing his laser beam and muh he couldn't dodge because of it. We'll guess what, if your only trump card is a super Final Flash attack that needs 45mins to charge while leaving you totally immobilized, you might come across the thought that your trump card is shit.
Bravado and a cool df simply isn't enough
