General & Others Biggest pirate to come from the mid gen?

Thinking about it wasn't jinbe also well known
I think it was Yosaku or Johnny that mentions Jimbo-man, saying where Nami went after leaving Baratie.
Well known now it's a bit of a stretch, one person mentions him. A pirate hunter too.

Think?
Manga panels are all the proof you need.
What panel are you thinking in particular?
Because Emperors are depicted quite more important than shichibukai in my perspective. Shichi were also viewed a relic of the past in the end, they got cancelled when the seraphims arrived.

Every single strawhat knew who he was
Same with dragon
I understand what you mean. But again, Shanks introduction and Rayleigh intro come at very different times in the manga.
When Mihawk appeared, the only one that seems to recognise him, outside of Zoro of course, is Zeff, a veteran pirate.
Nobody of the cooks recognise him, and even Krieg pirate don't seem to recognise him as who he is, they are more scared of the fact that he's hunting them down. Chapter 50 and 51 for reference.

I am a bit puzzled about this.
I am sure Mihawk wants to be the strongest, but at teh same time I feel that he is also looking for someone to take his title away from him.
It's not like he's given any space as a character, he is more a plot device per se, but I find more interesting for him to have the goal to find a proper challenger as a swordsman.
That's exactly it, Mihawk gives me the same vibe as Netero and Saitama, of course One brings the more comic side with Saitama.

His Vivre Card states that he is looking forward to someone who can surpass Shanks.

Every swordman fears "Hawk-Eye." He looks forward to the arrival of a swordman who can surpass his rival "Red Hair," with whom he crossed blades in the past.
When Netero discovered Meruem's strength, he was happy to finally be able to fight someone giving his all. I understand that Oda follows the same path with Mihawk.

How long you been a pirate should matter tho. Blackbeard has been a pirate for almost 30 years.

He only became big an well known recently in the past 2 years but his pirate career has started way before
Nobody knows about Blackbeard before. Dude don't even have a bounty. He stays low for a reason. Blackbeard started his pirate crew at the same time Luffy started his pirate crew. Both also cause chaos at the same time.

Him not being well known doesn't mean he isn't part of the same generation as shanks

You dont have to be famous to be around. Like their being irrelevant pirates during the age of roger doesn't mean they weren't pirates

Mihawk who sits at the top
Does personal strength truly make the greatest pirate? He's a lone wolf, he doesn't have the same qualities that he pointed out in Luffy and mirrored in Whitebeard.

Shanks may not be the strongest, but he gathered some of the strongest men in the entire world to be his crew, and maintains the balance of the world. Even the Gorosei are wary of his military prowess.
