The vibe that i got is that the series is now way more liked,because they changed Boruto's character from spoiled brat to edgy/badass warrior without an eye,and also the story has now multiverse elements that people likes nowadays so the series is now more popular than ever

The only problem now is that Boruto is a monthly release series instead of a weekly one so if the main story is planned on being long as story that happened after the timeskip of Naruto, it's going to take at least a decade for the manga to finish...

and so the chances of Boruto ending with a sudden cliffhanger increases month by month.
