It being a stalling fight more or less, was obvious to begin with. It was still all about fleeing the island and having Vegapunk saved.

But denying that they were not trying sounds like blasphemious propaganda. After the fight, yeah Kizaru had struggles with his inner self. But what would have been the point if they wouldn't fight according to their objectives?
