Gonna try and break down every possibility on what could lead with Koby's capture. It's revealed in this chapter that he became known as a Hero among marines too like Garp. Why would Blackbeard capture him, and I thought the deal was for the fighting to stop right there, but still captured him, and it might be worth it, as this whole incident ended with that - the Marine Hero's capture by the Blackbeard Pirates.
- Sell him to Cross Guild. But why, unless Koby is worth a lot of gold/money and unless Blackbeard could actually make real good use of that (can't think of what tho), why would he need that anyway when he literally runs Pirate Island. Steal Crocodile's df? Not entirely sold either but wont rule out anything, a possibility is a possibility, his df is regarded a mighty logia, and he has run his course as an enemy once, this time BB rids him.
- Bargain with the Marines. The common thought is that why would Akainu give a shit, he could tell him to kill Koby. But what if he actually gave a shit, Koby world wide is known as a Marine Hero now, and it might cause the Marines to get divided in a bad way if Akainu takes no action to save him.
But again what would be the deal be if we entertain that idea? Have the WG give them free powerful df's? Steal a df from a marine? Would Akainu willingly risk that in that case? Or will Garp/Sengoku and/or possibly Fuji try to save him on their own, Fuji might still be banned from Marine bases from Akainu, perhaps he tries to redeem himself that way?
Or Aokiji saves him, and becomes a heroic sacrifice that leads to Koby's growth.
- Saw @Gol D. Roger mentioned another possibility, and that Blackbeard might know that Koby and Luffy are friends, so use him as a bargain chip with Luffy himself, road poneglyph copies is a good one.
- Blackbeard saw potential in Koby, and will offer him a free df to make him the 11th titanic captain. But that is a complete waste of time, even if Blackbeard destroys his marine career by spreading lies, Koby will never truly fight as a Blackbeard Pirate, so this plot point is a complete waste of time, however Oda loves doing that too so it's a possibility.
- None of the above, other possibility.
