I wouldn't say that. He's a great character but I'd take Luffy over him.

His stonks have skyrocketed recently though, and Oda did say years ago that Buggy was his favorite One Piece villain.

Buggy is the most realistic character in OP in comparison to the average human/reader irl.

I hated him as character at first but during ID and later on he has become one of my favorites.

Nobody can replace Goofy as Loda nr1 tbh Wano is good reminder how everyone will get dragged through the mud to make him shine
This also extends somewhat extends to character his mc has ties with getting preferential treatment
