Same reason why Perona cant turn Usopp negative.
Natural counters exist, since Zoro is already a demon, you cannot demonify him to bring him under control.
Zoro isnt just any demon, he is a demon god, that ranks higher than Imu.

Usopp and Perona's situation is different and its tied to his personality trait and the DF is meant to hit that so it didn't work on him. Imu is straight up controlling people that is completely different.

If Zoro resists being controlled then its due to CoC.. i think Rocks was taken over because he hesitated when imu brought up his wife and child. So in a way he was weakened. Rayleigh has said before "Having no doubt is power".

Zoro being a demon isn't a fact "yet" its just his reputation.

Imu powers doesn't works to any of the strawhats because the strawhats are all kind and pure hearts. Imu powers wakes up the evil from the dark heart people. Doesn't effect pure and kind people. But only the people already have evil inside to their souls.

If we recall the Princess of Thriller Bark, Perona, she had quite some hax powers that affected everyone.
Everyone, except for a natural counter. Perona's ghosts turned people negative...

This was known since chapter 2 when he was called a "demon in human form", on top of manifesting as a Demon God later on.
Usopp was a natural counter to Perona's main trick just like Luffy was a natural counter to Enel's main trick.
Is Zoro next in line to be a natural counter considering he is literally the pinnacle of existence that Imu mentioned?

It happened in Wano too. I think they just believe it'd be a cool fight or that Oda's honor bound to do something about the whole "If I'm not in my right mind, then put me down" thing Sanji said in Wano
Plus it's been "teased" a lot in story, but it was never treated as something that would happen in a serious context so I don't know why they're obsessed with the idea of them having a real, no holds barred, fight.
