Swords are naturally more efficient than kicks to block attacks which means Sanji would first need to come up with an alleged barrier haki as good as Zoro's whilst possessing the overall great defensive output or more in general.

Luffy is fighting and blocking with his fists so to say you can't with your body doesn't make sense. Sanji would do same like Luffy in using Haki to deflect it just like Zoro try to do it, but he can't cause it too much for him.

This is when King threw Sanji on the surface of the building, but the panel that is shown Sanji, he is already on the floor on the side of the building. Everything that happened off the panel may just have Sanji coming out of the rubble and walking towards the battlefield again.
