Powers & Abilities Cases of "Forgot about his powers"

A common trope used in fiction is the "Forgot about his powers" one where one or several characters forget about an ability or skills they have that could greatly help them or have allowed them to easely avoid problems they now have to deal with had they used it earlier.

What exemples of this can you find in One Piece ?

Often times there is a psychological explanation for people not using specific powers. Like for example, people complained about Crocodile not trying to drain Luffy again in the tomb, but Luffy was an existence completely out of his understanding of the world, and he was perplexed why he kept standing up after getting beaten two times, even going as far as to risk their lives for somebody else, so he was shook and fed up.

But yeah, sometimes there are examples of Oda forcing characters into situations in which they suffer from stupidity.

- Luffy forgetting he can traverse the range of a huge city block in an instant against Cracker
- Kaku stopped using Soru, one of the most effective abilities in combat speed
- A lot of top tiers not using their full abilities due to plot restrictions
- Parasite obviously
- Luffy supposedly being trapped in the colosseum when he can smash the walls, and also him getting constrained by simple rope

It was actually pretty random but funnily many swaps always trigger interesting combinations.

Observation haki seems to work only when the plot demands it. It has some of the most inconsistent showings in the series.

Do you mean like the character forgot the power or that the author forgot it? Because the only thing I can think of that comes close as far as the character forgetting and then remembering like "oh duh, that's right" would be Luffy diving into water recklessly all the time. All the other things I can think of seem more like Oda underutilizing someone's power (ROBIN) or just chosing not to having them act for some reason.

There's a bunch in op i think oda gives these abilities but doesn't give a logical way to keep using them in a fight or just forgets. Like zoro should always use gorilla arms when ever he's serious as its a raw boost in strength. This is similar to a zoan not using their hybrid form. Law should always be looking for a point to swap personalities. This is a easy win like imagine if law switched luffy and kaido then the arc would be over the second that happened.

Dozens of cases where characters have super moves or power ups but decides not to use them, often being left perplexed as to how they can be having so much trouble using their "full strength".....

Doffy had intense internal bleeding and was being battered nonstop by a giant ball of hurt. Hell, he was almost unconscious for a few seconds in the middle of that fight. I'm sure he just had slight brain damage that made him slip up.
