Chapter 987 is the Kaido Flashback and it's what made The editor cry

I just realised that this is definitely what happened.

It's so obvious that I'm surprised no one's thought of it.

There's no build up for any epic emotional scene in the current plot so why would the editor cry? Because it's a flashback.
Remember how Oda put 2 chapters of the big mom flashback right when the Luffy alliance plan worked (as in Bege and company destroyed the Caramel photo and the poison rockets were fired). And then we have a panel or so of Big mom remembering her childhood then we transitioned to it next chapter. Well? What's happening now?

The Luffy alliance plan has worked (as in the Scabbards have ambushed Kaido and are Trying to stab him while he proclaims they can't). And then we have a panel of Kaido remembering that Oden managed to cut him. And we are left in suspense about whether the Stabbing/Poison Rockets will work. So what happens next?

We go into Kaido's flashback of course. Hehehe... Kind of like a "I guess you're wondering how I got to this point, it all started when I was 8 years old living on the streets of..." transition.

And of course I was dubious as anyone regarding how it's possible for something emotional to come out of nowhere to make me cry but yup, I fully believe that a villain flashback can do it. Even a short one. Big mom's 2 chapter flashback is the best two chapters of the whole of WCI. Oda can make me at least tear up with just a single chapter when it comes to villain flashbacks.

Edit: I missed that the editor clarified his stance. Well then I guess this is a theory about what chapter 987 is coz everything still points to a repeat of WCI and the start of the villain flashback

No, I'm sorry to disappoint you but the editor just confirmed that he cried in 986, I'll post the Twitter account that confirmed it. Oh. Others already posted it

yes this is another symptom of the low T DNA in japanese modern people tbh, to cry for momonosuke...
Somehow it explains why they are all "hikikomori"

I hope it's the flashback it would so cool to see Admirals doing their attacks on captured Kaido and failing to kill him right after people started the ptsd jokes
inb4 just after the FB he cries like a girl after beeing wounded hardly by the based SB

The editor is a bitch.

how a group of men trying to murder another group of men gonna make you that emotional?
The impact of americanization, of the 2 atomic bombs, and the low T DNA in modern japanese people, as much as their low T lifestyle, explains it well tbh. That's why they had to take refuge in mangas tbh, and cope with it. Not that i dislike one piece, and i'm actually pretty thankfully for it ngl, but still.

The Japanese who invented Kamikaze soldiers?! Japanese emotion is completely different from American emotion.

Thymine or nothing has anything to do with it.
