After realizing that there wasn't any thread made to talk and express personnal opinions about a specific character like on Oro Jackson, I thought that it may be good to bring back these character discussions thread on WorstGen.

And since Luffy is the main protagonist of One Piece whose story is centered around his dream to become the Pirate King and his journey in order to make his dream come I thought that it was only natural to make this first character about him.

What is your general opinion on Luffy as a character ? How much do you like or dislike him ? What are your favorite and least favorite things about him ?

Your thoughts on the Gomu Gomu no mi and the techniques he has created with it ? What's your favorite moment and/or fight with him ? The most iconic moment of him in the manga ? What about his anime portrayal and Mayumi Tanaka's performance ?

Luffy is alright, I like how goofy he is and protective of his friends. I dislike how he only solve problems with his fist and doesn't think about consequences of his actions. Oda always always leaves a 3rd party to fix the problem or the island citizens to fix itself. I also dislike he has to always say he going to be pirate king every damb arc..

Luffy is a genius in the fighting department and he put most marvel/dc rubber users to shame with how creative he is

Luffy really regressed as a character. Originally he could think of logical solutions that his crewmates would agree with; in Alabasta, Luffy concluded that going to the rebels would be meaningless unless they go to the source of problem which was Crocodile. He also told Vivi the harsh truth that people die in war and she cant change it. Nowadays he gets a migraine for thinking too much.
