We don't know what Gaban said to Sanji about having CoC Haki, but given the dire circumstances, I think he mentioned there's a method to forcibly awaken it. Though only if the person possesses the qualities of a king.
The situation is reminiscent of when Gon and Killua from HxH had to awaken Nen overnight using a forcible method. Like their sensei Wing did for them, Zoro could jolt Sanji's latent CoC Haki awake by overwhelming him with his own. It would be a last-ditch effort in a scenario where Sanji is unable to overcome the enemy's immortality. This "Wings" moment could also be a moment for Zoro to consciously use his CoC Haki. While Sanji awakens, Zoro will fully realize his own.
Oda will really need to prove to me that Sommers is an Inbetweener tier opponent then, because for now the only non top tiers on Elbaf that stand a chance against Zoro and Sanji are Dorry and Brogy, which is a very deliberate thing from Oda
I mean we had the whole Sanji losing himself conundrum in Wano, but here it comes full circle, a domi-fied Sanji will force Zoro to uphold his promise to Sanji on Onigashima, however, Zoro obviously not kill him with the catalyst being Sanji’s Power of Love being triggered which will allow for Sanji to break free from Imu’s control. I guess the impetus will be Sanji struggling to deal damage to either summers or majin Broggy due to their regen, which will fill him with doubt and self-loathing. We’ll probably get a call back to when he called Zoro a liability on Egghead, only for Zoro to be the one dishing it out. Sanji then gets surrounded and domi-fied by Imu, who will reveal that they did the same to the Germa of 300 years back whom Imu framed as an evil army due to Germa’s growing influence over the north blue causing the Germa to be reviled. Imu will reveal that if one has fear in their heart/doubt in their heart they can be domi-fied, which is a call back to when Judge wanted to strip his children of emotions. Domi-Sanji and Zoro commences with Zoro begrudgingly steeling himself to out Sanji down. A last appeal to Sanji by either Nami or Zoro, will trigger the Power of Love to kick in. Sanji now has access to a domi-fied version of himself which looks like how he did on thriller bark. Well also get a reveal that is those who are domified will be able to deal damage to those with immortality/regen, which will allow Sanji to deal with the regen without Conquerors.
We know Zoro and Sanji are not CoC specialists, and as such they will unlock CoC later, because they don't have a natural gift for it. For CoC specialists, CoC is unlocked by traumatic events when they're beaten down as kids.
Luffy against Boa Sisters
Ace
Doflamingo
Yamato
But for CoA or CoO specialists, they need a special "trigger". Something other than the situation they're in.
Zoro's trigger was Enma.
But Sanji doesn't use weapons. So I think his trigger will be Imu using Domi Reversi on him. We will get Majin Sanji.
But just like Vegeta was struggling with Babidi's mind control, so will Sanji with Imu
UNTIL, Imu will force him to hit a woman. And that will be the gag moment when Sanji will unlock CoC, and break out of Imu's mind control.
And according to Gaban, the counter to Imu's powers is CoC. "They are not immortal. Watch how you use your Conqueror Haki."
this is actually fitting given that luffy and one piece were based on goku and dragon ball and while goku corresponded to red ( like luffy) sanji corresponded to the color blue . ( not saying that sanji was based off him just noting the color correlation and them both being princes. ( and the fact sanji will likely end up with the main girl of one piece ( nami) like how vegeta ends up with bulma

Yes, this is exactly what I think will happen. Sanji will have to unlock CoC to undo Imu's domi reversi. and assert his will.
I think Wano was foreshadowing of Sanji losing control of himself later and Zoro having to be the one to try stop him.
I could see a situation where Sanji might be forced to hurt Nami/Robin but stopping himself at the last minute and conquering the effects of domi reversi.
