Their executions are another issue, but I have no qualms about Luffy beating Katakuri or "soloing" Kaido, especially the former. I don't grasp how Luffy losing to Katakuri as a repeat of the "I'm too weak" plotline back in Marineford would serve the narrative when (a) he's poised to fight a Yonkou the next arc and (b) Katakuri's clearly Luffy's final stepping stone to the Yonkou themselves.
Even though I was all about Brook VS Who's-Who (and Jimbei VS Jack), I'm okay with him not having a proper fight. Not every Straw Hat gets a match-up and Brook soloing a Number and a bunch of Gifters gave him solid portrayal like Franky and Robin.
