We know that Fuji is one of the good marines, at odds with a lot of the evil shit the WG does.

Could the gorosei replace him with someone more loyal?
I think one possible option would be to replace him with a holy knight. This would ensure that the celestial dragons have someone on the marines that is fully loyal to them.

Another option might be sentomaru. Being an ACoA user, he is one of the strongest marines outside of the admirals. If he got stronger over the timeskip, he might be able to become top tier by eating a DF. maybe he might eat an artificial version of sengoku’s powers.
